fully entertained the managers and
their wives, of the Bowen Telephone
Company Exchange at their home on
South Main street on Tuesday even
ing. This is an annual affair, Mr, and
Mrs. Manning entertaining at this sea
son each year, .
The dining table was lovely in its
decorations, a beautiful centerpiece of
red and white roses was used. At
7:30 a delicious seven course turkey
dinner was served and covers laid
for eleven,
The hostess was assisted in serving
and entertaining by Mrs. R. V. Wood
ham and Misses Loig Malcolm, Jos
cphine and Mildred Manning.
After dinner the evening was spent
playing progressive games and enjoy
ing music on the Victrola.

MISS GLOVER BECOMES THE
BRIDE OF MR. WILKINSON
A wedding of unusual beauty and
distinction was solemnized at seven'
o’clock on Wednesday evening, Dec.
28 at the home of the bride’s parents

na ‘Glover became the bride of Mr.
Charles Marnardie Wilkinson.

of the artistic arrangements of ferns,
foliage and cut -flowers throughout
the whole lower floor of the -hand
some home.
In the reception hall baskets of
yellow chrysanthemums were grace
fully aranged. z
The living room was decorated in
red and green many poinsettas and red
roses formed a lovely back ground
§ In the diniing room'bowles of white
narcissis and baskets of pink and
whitecarnations with many stately
ferns and hanging baskets of ferns
‘made a lovely picture,
Silver candelebra placed about
the rooms with unshaded tapers cast.
a soft glow, The lights overhead were
shaded in: pink and tied with pink
tulle. In the drawing room a hand
some arrangement of pink carnations
was tied with tulle to the chandelier
making a beautiful shade. ‘
An ?mproviscd altar of ferns and
foliage was aranizcd in the drawing‘
room. On either side of the altar was
a large basket of pink and white car
nations tied with pink tulle, Silver
candelebra holding unshaded tapers
were standing on tall pedestals on
either side of the altar among the
ferns,
Precedinig the-ceremony a beautiful
musical program was given Mrs. L.
Everett Rhorer presided at the pinno.]
Mr. Rurr Stokoe first sang in a most
appealing way “The Sweetest Story
Ever Told”, Then followed a piano
solo “Twilight”, beautifully rendered
by Mrs. Rhorer, Mr. Burr Stokoe
sang “Until” just before the opening
of the wedding march. During the cer
‘emony “Sweet Evening Star” was soft
ly played. | ; .
~ As the strains of Mendelssohn's
wedding march were sounded, little‘
}Harrict Faye Glover, dressed in’ pink
’crepe de chine and lace entered the
drawing room carrying the ring in
|thc heart of a large pink rose.
l The bride on the arm of her father
|who gave her in marriage, came from
the stairway in the reception hall, She
was met at the altat by the groom who
came in alone from a side door,
They were met at the altar by the
Rev, Robert M Mann, pastor of the
Presbyterian church who performed
| the impressive ring service. The ring
iuscd was the wedding ring of the
bride’s mother. ¢
The bride was beautiful in an ex
quisite white satin gown with drap
|eries and trimmings of chiffon and
gsilver lace. A handsome train em
broidered in silver was caught at the
shoulders and fastened with pearl
ornaments, She carried in her hand
a taffetta bound prayer book, which
was used by her father when a boy
‘in the Episcopal church. This was
showered with valley lillies. Messrs
Lawrence ,C. Glover and Robert H.
‘McKay acted as ushers,
} The bride’s mother was handsome
1y gowned in black satin with drap
‘eries of lace. The sister of the groom
[MiSS Ruth Wilkinson wore beautiful
shell pink satin with trimmings of lace
and tulle, The other members of the
family present at the wedding were:
Mrs, J. C. Glover, Mr. and Mrs. N.
Emery Davis and Miss Lydia Davis,
Mrs, E, N. Davis and Mr. and Mrs.
Brayton Davis, Mr, and Mrs. Law
rence C. Glover, and Mrs. L. L, Dick
cerson. The only other guests includ
ed a few of the closest friends of the
family,
Between the hours of eight and ten
a reception was held and during this
entire time music was rendered by
Evans orchestra, Mrs. George E.
Ricker met the guests.at the door as
;thcy arrived and weére passed on to
‘the living room by Mrs. L. A. Turn
}er. They were met by Misses Louise
Wilcox and Dorothy Cass who served
punch from a table banked with red
roscs. Mrs. Lawrence C. Glover in
troduced the guests¥éto the receiving
line composed of Mt and Mys. J €
Glover,.Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Wil
kinsoh and Miss Ruth Wilkinson, Mrs.
L. L. Dickerson and Mrs. Robert H
McKay invited them into the dining
room where they were served hot tea,
sandwiches in heart shape, mints and
salted pecans by Misses Sadie Britt,
Lydia Davis, Mrs. E. N. Davis, Mrs.
J. I. Pryor, Mrs. L. E, Rhorer and
Mrs. Modena Rogers, Mrs. R. M.
Mann poured the tea.
All the ladies assisting were attract
ively gowned in evening costumes of
many pretty colors, As the guests de
parted they were asked to register in
the bride’s book by Miss Helen Os
borne and between 150 and 200 regis
tered.
Mr. and Mrs, Wilkinson left on the
night train for Atlanta and will enjoy,
2 short honeymoon trip before going
to their new home in. Greenwood, S.
C. The bride’s going-away gown
was of midnight blue poret twill with
hat, slippers gloves and furs of black.
Mr. and Mrs, Williams have the
congratulations and best wishes of
an extensive circle of friends and tho
they grieve to see such a lovely young
woman as the briide leave our city.
it is with the greatest of love and good
wishes for her future happiness in her
new home, : :
Mr. Wilkinson is an _enterprising
young husiness man and has a very
bright future before him.
