Fussell were joint hostesses Wednes
day morning at a pretty rook party
at Mrs Warren's home complimenting
their visitor Mrs George Fussell of
Atlanta, Tables were arranged for
twelve players in the attractively de
corated rooms a profusion of sum
mer flowers being effectively placed,
and summer breezes were fanned in
to service to that a most delightful
time was enjoved,
After several lively rounds of rook,
a delightful salad course with tea was
served by the hostesses assisted by
Mrs J L McCarty, Mrs Joe Lijttle of
Ocilla and Miss Martha Turner. The

The closing meeting of the year
was held at the home of Mrs Carl Fel
lars, with the topic of Joseph Conrad
and his works ably handled by Mes
dames S G Jryor, Jr, R H McKay and
U ] Bennett, A farewell luncheon
honoring Mrs Bennety and Miss
Prentiss was a beautiful event of
Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Mc-
Kay.

The marriage of Miss Evelyn Don
ehoo of East, Point and Mr, Ranold
Burke of Fitzgerald will occur on
Tuesday the 24th, at the M E church
in East Point. The young couple will
take a short honeymoon trip to Chat
tanooga anl return here to make their
home.
PARTY AT COUNTRY CLUB
Entertaining in a charming way at
the Country club last Friday after
noon were Misses Freddie Isler,
Martha Turner and Evelyn Owens as
joint hostesses, complimenting Mrs
Ralph Russell, the recent btide. The
assembly hall was attractively set with
tables for bridge each being topped
with a bonbon dish of mints while all
baskets of blue hydrangea were inter
spersed about the spacious room.
The company of plavers in their at
tractive afternoon frocks of lovely anl
varied hues gave a flower-like effect
of color.
1 Miss Evelyn Owens served punch
throughout the afternoon and Mes
dames J E Turner, C T Owens and
E A Russell assisted in entertaining,
Mary -Edwin Turner passed the tally
cards,
Refreshments of white brick cream
with the letter ‘R’ in blue, and block
cakes iced in white, and each plate
bearing a spray of blue blossoms
were served at the conclusion of the
game, About thirty guests were pres

this week from Mercer Universjty
where he has spent a profitable year
winning some laurels in debate and
declamation and scholarship.

day, They were accompanied home
by Miss Irene Thomas who will visit
Miss Dickey also by Mr Mark Mayes,
Mr and Mrs P T Craig will take
an apartment with Mrs R J. Pren
tiss after July 1.
Mr and Mrs Julius Collins returned
from their wedding trip in the Caro
linas to spend Sunday with their par
ents Mr and Mrs J P Manning before
going to their new home in Atlanta,
Mrs A C Justice has rented her
home on West Orange street and will
leave shortly for a summer visit in
the north,
Dr Frank Ward returned from Mia
mi last Friday and accompanied Mrs
Ward and baby son to hWite Springs
Fla., where they are spending two
weeks in the interest of Mrs Ward’s

Masters Francis and Paul Ward are
visiting relatives in Willacoochee for
two weeks.
Mrs R E Lee and son Ernest are ex
pected home Friday from a two weeks
visit in Atlanta and north Georgia
Doints, including the state biennial of
Woman’'s Clubs at Tallulah Falls,

Monday night for Atlanta where they
will attend the wedding of their son

nati Conservatory of Music and after
her summer vacation will teach ex

her vear's work at the Louisville
Conservatory of Music and from At

Wednesday afternoon at the school
house, the newly elected president,
Mrs A H Denmark presiding. The
new committees ior the coming year
were announced and quite a good deal
of detailed business attended to.
