The following certificate was received by Dr Idarri

Andrew Jackson.
Wishinglt n, April 7th, 1335.
Dear Sir—l dislike giving certificates, as*owing to
■tie position in which lam placed, it might leave me
men to an unpleasant number of applications Never
theless my thankfulness in the present instance c, m
nels tne to say that my -ervant has used your ointment
non the hurt vou referred to, with the most manifest
advantage, and has discarded all other remedies m its
av.ir.
Your ointment has been for some time most favora
bly known to »ie though t‘’e thought never struck -me
to app'y it in the above case My first knowledge of,
u» virtues, commenced with a very complete cure that
t performed on the back of one of my horses, which
had been sadly chafed by harness, and since then I
have frequently tes ed its efficacy in matters ot the
same nature. On the whole I think it a very excellent
preparation.
Yours. &c. ANDREW JACKSON.
Boston, Jan 7, 1337.
Dear Sir—l have to request of you to for.vaid me
two hundred boxes of ointment, by the most immediate
conveyance and without regard to the expense of car
riage, as I ant quite out, and much in want of it. You
know my es imation of your invaluable di-co very, and
therefore I shall only add, that further experience has
increased my enthusiasm, and established me m the
opinion, that it is superior to any remedy extant for
external disease. Hesnecifullv yours.

PETERS’ PILLS !
[IVhS the e a man who rnsv n>t be ocrasi nally
A beuefitted by theute of Peters' Piles?—No! as
suredly not ; for the human frame, like any other struc
ture, will fal into confu-ion and ruin, if neglec'ed hut
by the aid of medicine judici atsly applie ', it is en ibled
so a heal Jivevco -» *i
icsreo pub ic opinion that Dr. Pcjera’ Pil s is tlie medi
cine ot medicines in ’he prove ition or i fie cure of the
general diseases which the human ti nement isinciden
lal to.
Do inen in robust health require medicine ? Certain
ly, for the very excess o t eulth (>egcts certain diseases
unless uly reguhted. If the hloo I is suffered to run
riot without correeiins laxatives, costiveness, megrim,
biles, scurw, spleen, pimples, furred tongue, or offen
sive breath are th» inevitable consequences; for ex
uberance of health, like river-rich soil becomes rank,
and prone to the p eduction of weeds, if care is noi
taken to have it judiciously moderated.
But he iltriy men have an anhpa'liy to the name of
medicine ! And no wonder, f r nineteen-t ven iethsof
all the medicines in the world commence opi ra ions
by mal.ing the people very sick, whom it was imunde !
th- y should make very well; and thus in most cases
the cure is considered rather worse than the disease.
But Dr. Pen rs’Fills is the celebrated and particular
exception to this almost universal rule. In them here
is no gripe, no nausea, no 8 ckness of any kind ; nay
they are absolutely very pleasant to the taste, aril rest
as quietly on the stntimrch as so many comfo's orgrecn
peas, even when their operations are as sudden, and
as effective, as if they were as disagreeable, and as
sickening as an old fashioned bolus 1 hus the man
who uses Peters' Pills, (and where is the man that does
not use them ?) expels headaches, fevers, blotches, p m
pies, &c &.c , and makes his blood coarse as limpid,
and as gently through his veins as a mountain rivu ct,
without lining put himself to any more inconvenience
in taking medicine than he would have done in
swallowing so many black currents.
Should ladies take Dr. Pi ters’Pills ? Doubtlessly
they should, for they not only assure them of health,
complacency of spirits, and every bodily eo. nfor', but,
through their miraculous agency in the purification of
the blood, speedily removes every thing partaining to
harshness, pimples, or casual scurvy, from the flesh, an
imates the eye, and gives an elast city, and a vigor to
■lie limbs, and the general carriage; and lienee when
you see a lady with a cheek of velvet softness, a pure
lily and carnation complexion, and an easy and grace
ful bearing, 'he general inference to be drawn is, that !
she is her own physician, and very particular in the i
choice of her medicine, and the especial one, that she
is a patron of Peters’ Pills.
Leaving health out of the question, should poets, nov- 1
elis s.edi ors, mechanics, and menof genius and se'ence
in general, patronise Peters’Pills ? Unquestionably,
for i lie vigor which they impnrt to the feme exercises
a most who’esome influence upon the intellect and
the wri'erof this feels justified in saying that any ptrson
about to carry out an idea, whether of composition or j
invention, will have a more lucid understanding of his {
subjec, and think better, and more to the point on it, \
after lie has vivified his system bv a dose of from one o
four of Peters’Pills. Persons in business, nterchan's,
store keepers, clerks, speculators, &.o. wi J derive great
them on the sarhe principle ; for it tlie
mind is not buoyant tio man ran a' tend to the usual
pursuits of life wiffi due perspicuity, judgment and plea
sure, and there is nothing in the world, at least that nas
ever been discovered, so efficient in brightening the fa
culties, and freeing them from participaring in the lan
go ir, decay, and iinperfectihility of their mora abode
as Dr Peters’ Pills.
To what may be attributed these singular nnd won
derful effects? Whv, to their mysterious and inevita
He action upon the cA*/e.and thru particular region o|
die system whence the living fluid is generated, for.
thus they do nut only purify' the blood hut create pure
blood, the issue of which i= healthy veins, nrierie , and
other functions, unobscured vision, firm and pulpy flesh,
smooth and clear skin, and the consequent buoyancy
of heart, feeling and action. In short, whether we take
them as a matter of h< nlth, business, feeling, or per
sonal appearance, tliete is none of us should leave our
h > ses without a regular supply of Peicrs’ Pills.

flamaticK and Weakness of the Eyes.
7I3HE great advantages of thisinfalible remedy places
i it ns a general appendage to families, and a con
slant rade-mn um to the traveller. This Eye Water is
prepared with tlie greatest care, and has never been
known to fail in effecting a speedy and safe restoration
of the diseased organs. It is useless to attach any cer
tificates by way of praise or recommendation. ’ The
reputation and immense sale that has attended Dr
Scudder’s Eye Water, is the fairest proofofits utility
and beneficial tendency ; it has been the means of
preserving sight to many of the afflicted, from the help
less infant to the aged parent. Thousands of letters
have been received by Dr. S. within these few years
containing flattering remarks relative to this Eve Wa
ter—and the cures effected by it, have been set forth as
wonderful beyond precedent. Dr. Scudder confidently
recommends this Eye kVa ter as a safe and valuable
remedy—and he trust that his experience as an Occu--
list, to weigh against the gross impositions which are
daily practised on the public by advertisements of dif
ferent kinds of Eye Water, many of which are unsafe
louse. Prepared by Dr. John Scudder, Oculist and
inserter of Artificial Human Eyes. A supply of the a--
