His relative, who d- pt in tho next room, was awakened by tin- n"i.-*»; but after a short time Mr. Chipp returned to bed and slept till morn ing. He returned to Oyster Hay on Thurs'lay, and was seen around the vil lage <onversing with citizens as cheer fully as ever. That night he had the same dream over again, and early in the morning he jnmj»ed out of i-ed in his sleep and grasped his wife’s arm so hard that she screamed, she having risen be fore him. On awaking he said he had had a dream, and endeavored to laugh it off and think no more about it. UTien the family assembled at breakfast time, Mr. Chipp was about to relate his dream, win fl fata daughter «poko up and jokingly reminded him of the raying which said dreams told before breakfast come to pass in reality. The father laughed and turned the conversation to another subject. In thi* evening of the same day Mr. Chipp invited hi* daughter Fanny to ait down and play a game of backgammon. Be fore they l**gan the dream was thought of agam. and Mr. Chipp was asked to re late it. At the same moment the daugh ter spoke, anti asked her father if he knew his secretary was open. Close by were $100 in currency and two $50 bonds, none of which had bufen touched. On making this startling discovery Mr. Chipp said very little, and thus far has not given notice to any detective or official. The l*»nds were of the series of 1867. There were thirteen $1,000 bonds, and a few of smaller denomination. The loser had not kept their numbers, owing to the fact ofhis buying and selling so often. The next mystery wai how could any one have got into the house and stolen the bond*. Mr. Chipp has three dogs, one on immense Newfoundland, which always sleeps at the door; a Skye terrier which sli*ep« in tho sitting room, and which is always ready to sound an alarm ; and a white Spitz, which'sleeps on the mat at Mr. Chipp*s bedroom door, and which always gets up and walks into the room if any noise is heard. Tho keys of both th«? Nii-ivtary and cash-box were in Mr. Chipp’* pantaloons pocket. There were no marks indicating that the locks had 1 *vn pickl'd. The coah-box ha* a spring lock which catch, i. when tho cover falls. As stated before, tho «ccretary was left unlocked. Thus far no clue whatever has l. en olitaineil showin" how tho bur glary was eomjnitted. Thi* the drayman neg- lecunT to do, and on his return to the .■'tore Messrs. D. Sc J. sent Herbert Jones to Agner for tho money. A gnor refused to pay before the end ot the month, and during the conversa tion that ensued became somewhat abusive, and ordered Mr. Jones to leave the house. He also went to a drawer, and. in sight of Mr. Jones, put a pistol in h:> breeches jHx ket. He then repeated hi* order to Jones to leave the house and eut\*n>*d it l*y pushing, and kicking him, out of doore. U«? then seised a long handled shovel and followed Jones across the road lifty yards or more, cursing and striking .it him as he went.
