The curiosity of the people living in the neighborhood of the cotton factory was considerably excited Sunday morning by the finding of a coat’ and shirt, both of which were literally covered with blood, seemingly indicating that a foul deed had been coounitted somewhere in that ncighWhood. Tho coat was a black linsul doth -claw hammer” and was lit- .•rally cut or torn into strips. Tho shirt was of rather coarse material, and was neither cut nor torn, but was thoroughly •atumted with blood. There was no name on either of tho garments, nor any in drnnk. He was on ■ lay Sunday, tol<»n»bly I ■oat on his arm, and in- *m ho met if they could me distinguished horse- j in the afternoon he got jpound his oHmndmm ; i lost his coat, hat and him- •elf. He found himself in the barracks yesterday morning, and a little later ;,,ijnd himself indebted to the city in the • urn of two dollars. He had not found his coat and luit up to the last accounts. John Kanes and his wife were charged with disorderly conduct, but their case v. tr postponed until to-day. A couple of cases of disorderly conduct w. -re also postponed for the want of tes- liatoqy. § uAKMKMAK ACCEPTAJICES. Factor*' Addrecs to the Planter*. In the advertising columns of this pa per will be found on address of all the warehousemen of Macon, to the planters who do business through Macon factors. In this address the true condition of af faira is set forth. It is very well known that the moneta ry crisis has stopped the sale of cotton. Tho currency of the country is so rigidly locked up that the cotton crop cannot be moved now, and there is no hope of the planters realizing anything immediately ; i'rom their crops. In the meantime the planters have paper out which will begin to fall du< early in October. If nothing is done to protect this paper, it will, in tho regular • •rder of business, go to protest, thus •lamaging alik.* the interests of both planters and factors. Upon this tho question arises as to how this paper shall lie met and protected, so that no in tercets shall suffer. Tliis pnper is nearly, if not quite, all held by the banks of Macon. The bank ers, with their accustomed liberality, hare offered to extend this paper at a reasonable rate of interest, provided the planters will ship their cotton to Macon, where it can be safely stored under insur ance. The cotton, so disposed of, can bo held for the bedefit of the planter until the crop begins to move, a legitimate market is opened and fair prices estab lished. This proposition, we are glad to think, will be satisfactory to planters. In fact it is their sole hopo for protection. It will give them the relief they will want immediately, and save them from any iuch disaster as wonld certainly follow a forced sole of their cotton before the pres ent crioii shall have ended.
