The telephone line recently put up
beltneen Macon end Forsyth will with
in a few week, be extended to Griffin,
where 11 will connect with the line be
tween Grinin aW Atlanta, thus giving
Macon telephone connection with At
lanta, with Stallone at timam. Bollng-
bruke, Forsyth, Harneavllle, Griffin and
perhaps other towns and stations on
the Central railroad between Macon
and Atlanta.
The work of constructing the con
necting line has Iready commenced and
It will only take a few weeks to com
plete the work. The tine will be com
posed of double No. 10 copper wlro

connected with the telephone exchange
In this city.
Tne lino between Macon and Forsyth
has 'been In operation several monihu
and haa proven u success, the people

curred In'a trip to Macon to transact
suoh business os they transact over
the telephone. It l, understood that
the line between Griffin sand Atlanta
has not paid ,o well and this Is the
principal object In lla extension, as It
Is believed that a through line between
Maoon and Atlanta, with Intermediate
stations, will pay handsomely.
When the connection Is made be
tween Gridin and Atlanta It will form
tho longest telephone Doe In the South,
being a dlslance of 103 miles, and by
connecting In Atlanta with the lines
running to 'Marietta, Ltthonla and
