Atlanta. July 17.—-(Special.)—The pri
mary tomorrow for the selection af del
egates to the congressional convention
and the nomination of candidates for
the ?eri*Iature and county officers gives
every Indication of being the hottest
election in years.
Livingston and Cnrdler will of course
make the leading llghL Both sides r.re
prepared for a hard day’s work and both
claim thst their candidate will win,
though Livingston appears to have the
advantage, taking an impartial view of
the situation. .There are a great many
non-committals, however, and the silent
vote may cause a surprise tomorrow.
Last night’s Joint debate, which was
a political experience that few who wit
nessed it care to see enacted within the
Democratic party again, wub followed
tonight ny separate meetings. Col.
Candler, with Hon. N. J. Hammond and
Col. Albert H. Cox, held forth at the
opera hhuse, while Livingston* and his
friends spoke and shouted themselves
hoarse at the county court house. Both
meetings were largely attended and
neither candidate had cause to com
plain of a lack fof enthusiasm.
Livingston is confident of carrying
Fulton county and boasts that he will
even defeat Candler in DcKalb, his own
county.

The tomato industry has not proved
very remunerative so faA on account
of the drought, and the prevailing low
prices of everything. But peaches, the
luscious Georgia peaches, will atwayB
command the best prices. Messrs.
Humph & Baldwin received returns of
