One ot the most important results of the now tariff bill tvhloh presents Itself to the feminine mind Is the fact that women twill be able to purchase ostrich tiP9, feather boas and all trimmings composed of feathers fbr a much cheap er price than heretofore, the reduction being fully to per cent. A Telegraph reporter called on a num ber of merchants yesterday and learned that women will In many reaped!* profit more by the reduction" of tariff than men, although the wearing aipparil of both sexes will be considerably cheaper than before. Ostrich feathers have always been one of the most expensive Items In my la dy’s wardrobe, and. although the pret tiest and most graceful of trimmings, they have never been genmlly used on ooeoumt of their high price. Nothing is more coveted by all women of taste than an ostrich boa. A black ostrich bba will set off even a simple costume. On the day following the passage of the tariff bill one of itbe large dry goods houses in New York and also one in Brooklyn held special sales of boaB, sell Ing every one (they had in Stock. Other articles worn by women which will be noticeably reduced in price are laces of the cheaper grades, especially coititon ones, ribbons, dowers and all mil linery gbods not made up. On Imported bonnets and hats trim med or on any retvdy made Imported garment requiring hand labor there will be no reduction. A visit to several of the large shops where dry goods and household belong ings are sold resulted in obtaining the following facts regarding the effect of the tarts on IWwwe things which are of tne mbs*t interest to women: , The cheaper igradea of table linen, of bed linen and of towels will be from 10 to 16 .per cerot. loss than before. On higher grades, requiring skilled labor, the reduction will not be over 6 per 2?,*: ° n handkerchiefs the reduction tvill be Quite marked, and a much bet terquallty of handkerchief will sobn be jold for 25 cents than we have been able nn * f0r thn:t prrtc ® 81000 the McKinley THEL Best Lonsdale Cambric, all you want,, Extra quality potion Towel 10c. 10c. a yam. The people of Plnoru have a grievance against the Macon and Dublin railroad, arrangements -to extend which into Sa vannah from Dublin are nsw being made. “We have recently received Informa tion,” said a reoiden't of Plnora yester day, "that She contemplated line of Che Macon and Dublin railroad has been changed, and that instead of crossing the Central railroad 'through our town It is intended to cross at Eden, about eight miles nturer to tho city. “When the Plnora township was laid out It was with a vluw ot having this ruUrojd pass through It. The town has been cut out 'to tit Che right-of-way which mho projectors of the road con templated using. W was believed to bo the best and most advantageous place ait which the crossing could be made. Although (the projected right-of-way would run through the yards of several of tihe inhabitants and cause some of them to lose their houses, they have not made any protest, as they believed the road would grealtly .benefit ami build up the town. “It Is saald, however, .that hands are working near Eden for the purpose of marking out the right-of-way through that place. This, .too, In spite of the fact thait twenty miles of the track has been built toward Idle Ogeechee, Just tho other side of Ptnora.s Under those circumstances the people bf Plnora fee) very mucth aggrieved that such a change Should be made. It is still their hope, however, that in the end tho right-of- way through Plnora will be found the most advantageous and made use of." As .wus stated In the Telegraph a day or two ago, tihe preliminary survey for this new line has been begun, and there are now two surveying parlUea working on It, ono from Dublin toward Savan nah. nnd the other Is working from Sa vannah. It Is expeoted-that the Work of building the road tto Savannah will ho well under way within a year. OH. WBttf A COUGH, win you heod tho warning?
