HYPNOTIZED FROM A DISTANCE.
Everett, tile Hypnotist, at the Acade
my tl Music on V.’etl le.+Kv Night.
'One of tho iuu.st remarkable of the
many wonderful things done by Mr. S.
A. C. Everett has not yet been pub
lished in Macon, thougu the Augusta
aud several Northern newspapers evur
tuiued long accounts of It. On the last
day of Mr. Everett's stay In Augusta,
after having given tweuty-nino con
secutive performances In that city. *u
the course of his wonderfully success
ful tour last summer, ht> was ap
proached by a young man named Bra
dy, who was suffering severely from
toothacne. He asked Mr. Everett to
relieve him, and, as he lmd on a pre
vious occasion been hypnotized, Mr.
Everett quickly exerted the hypnotic
influence over him and at once, by sug
gestion, removed the pain.
The young man on awaking and
finding the pain gone was grateful aud
announced his Intention of having the
tooth removed by the dentist next
morning.
Mr. Everett then asked his permis
sion to try on experiment anil agaiu he
hypnotized Mr. Brady. Mr. Everett
told Mr. Brady that next day when he
sat down in tho dentist's chair ho would
not feel the pain of having tho tooth
removed.
That morning Mr. Everett left Au
gusta for un engagement In South Car
olina. Brady went to tho dentist next-
morning, told him his mission, sat down
In the chair and.incontinently went to
sleep, to the surprise of tho dentist
and his horror when ho found that, try
as he might, ho could not awake the
sleeper.
The dentist, however, drew tho tooth
and almost Immediately afterward Mr.
Brady awoke. He lmd felt no pain
and had unquestionably been hypno
tized, though Mr. Everett was n huu-
dred miles away at that exact time.
Tho truth of this story cau be vouched
for by. tho Augusta dentist, by Mr.
Brady, who holds a responsible posi
tion In Augusta, and by many other
people.
At his performance at tho Academy
on next /Wednesday night Mr. Everett
will show many of tho most astonish
ing developments of hypnotism, clair
voyance and mind reading.
It will bo one of the most Interesting
and amusing entertainments over seen
In Macon.

DU BIGNON ON SILVER.
Ha Gives His Views on Ulmettalllsm and
Hew to ITeaerva a Parity.
Thorjasvllle, Sept. 21.—(Speclal.)-Mr.
duPIpnon gives the press correspondent
his position on national Issues, which oil
Georgia are inxlous to know. Ho said:
that he was a olmottalllst in the true aril
renulne sense of the term. He was
much opposed to monometallism ot sliver
as he was a single gold standard. The
fundamental dlffcnnco between tho Dem
ocrat and Populist was that tho Democrat
believes in bimetallism and Ihe Populist
believes In flat money. No lime In the
history of tho country did gold’und silver
maintain companionship, except under the
Inflexible rule of equality in value. What
the people «ro interested In was not the
product of cither metal, out tho free cir
culation of both meta's, both possesalrg
equal purchalng, debt paying power. No
Democrat, as far lie know, who spoke
for hlB pirty, f-ivorcd the demonetization
of sliver. The romporury suspension of Its
coinage! hnd been advocated from Jeffer
son to the present whenever the existing
circumstances were such tbat a parity
could be maintained, but all Democrats
who aro loyal to the platform of the party
favored bimetallism mid, therefore, fa
vored free coinage of silver whenever a
proper ratio, or other legislative safeguard
could maintain a parity between the two
metals..
