Further, It would be easy for tlhe Japanese to move tnoopoby sea from 'Ping-Yang 1 to the Yalu and to shift their base of opera tions further -north, thuo supplying re- onforocemervts to (the bolumn marching northward from Ping-Yang. This Is al most certain to be done If the advance Into Manchuria Is tmide.” * - SUN'S COTTON REVIEW. There was a Slight Decline, but the Mar ket Closes in Rather Better Shape. New York, Sept ?4.-Cotton declined 8 to 9 points, and then rallied and closed firm at a net decline fur tho day of 1 to 3 points. Sales, 119.600 bales. Liverpool advanced to 14. to 1*4 point*, but lost this and closed weak. Spot sales, 12,000 bales at unchanged prices. In Manchester yarns were in buyers favor and cloths dull. New Orleans de clined 7 to 8 'Olats, but recovered part of. this later on. port receipts, 60,0$3 bales, against 30,425 this day last week and 55,371 lost year; thus ftir this week, 77.541 against 18,883 thur fur last week. Exports today, 10,771 from New Orleans to Great Britain. Spot cotton 1-16 c.?nt lower. Sales, 213 for Hpinnlng, Delivered on contracts, ttO. New Orleans receipts tomorrow ’were es timated at 9,000 to 10,000, ugalnst 6,354 on the same day last week and 8.S63-, last yea r. , There waw less disposition to hell this afternoon and more anxiety to cover shorts. Prominent members of . the trade also gave the market support. There was qujto a marked decline early In tho day, owing to this morning's I Aver pool advices and- large receipts at the* ports. There was selling for local Southern and for eign houses later on, shorts tried to cover. There was very little cotton offered and th* price® recovered most of the early de cline. Some were inclined to fedr bad weather tomorrow, owing to the news that a cyclone was approaching the Southern coast, but the most factor was the overselling of tho market. There Is a large short lnterat here and at the South, and on every decline there is more or less covering, which causes at least a temporary rebound to the market. ACADEMY OF MUSIC Y7EDNESDAY.
