Chicago, 8ept 25.—The last ten minutes of today's trading in wheat witnessed the only animation of the day, prlce3 during that period reaching the lowest point of the session, thfe celling, which was Instrumental In forcing the mKd slump, coming from the local scalpers and moderate traders who bought during the early hours. There was hardly un order from the outside all ; day and until the closing hour, even the inside business was of the most unimportant and re stricted character. The low point that was made at the close marked u i etv record for low' prices, December wheat opened at 54Haft; cold between closing at under yesterday. Cash wheat was quiet and steady at un changed prices. Corn—Misguided bulls bought corn early and sold It out at the close at a loss today. The trade waa a scalping of a local character. Outsiders appeared to take no Interest and sent but lew or ders. May corn opened from 61% to Hi sold between 52H and 51*4; closing at 51% —He. under yesterday. Oats—The shipping demand for oats was a prominent factor in the future trade today. The tone, however, was de rived largely from the temper of the wheat and corn pits, the linal transac tions being at a decline of a He. from those of yesterday for May. Cush oats He. better than yesterday. !?revisions*—Brokers selling worked a hole in prices of product after a llrm early tone today. The 6alea were presum ably for ArmouV, whilst the buying at and around the opening waa for the account of Swift & Co., and other packers. The hog market was weak for heavy grades, and higher for others. The effect* of thl3 irregularity was therefore doubtful. Chicago, Sept. 25.—The little spurt at the close of the session yesterday was apparently too sharp, as the market this morning opened weak but active, with buyers in both corn and wheat yellera. One thousand*and sixty cars in north west wheat were a weak feature. Foreign cables were again coloreless. Considera ble comment Is being passed on the cheap ness of wheat, but It still fails to attract Investment buying. Whether Its univer sal hope of getting 4n. at lower prices that keeps them off is conjuncture. Certain, It is the prodlguous stock now held are discounted, while December wheat contin ues to drag around the record prices. The range has been but % to %c. all day. Towards the close a little strength was displayed on an official statement that Chicago stocks decreased 170,yw and not SE.000 as given yesterday. This was more than on offset by Brad streets increase of 2,259,000 In the available supply for both coasts. The market at the close became weak, December wheat touching 54H- The corn market opened weak with prices a shade off. There was good sell ing by commission houses for outside acw count, while shorts were pounding the market to buy back later, but with the possible dectine of %c. loss from yester day, the market suffered no 111 effects. As the session advanced the point went around that tomorrow's receipts would be light, on which there was a rush to cover, causing a sharp rally,, the market being well sustained for a while on the estimate of 150 cars. Towards the close the market relapsed Into a stagnant condition and prices gradually eased off. Oats were very dull, prices at the open ing were a shade lower and remaining nominal.
