Under the receipt* increaso It Is contended that the 9,000;000,000 estl- e on the orop will have to be aband oned. Mr. Hester’s figures show that the tint that came in sight tills week of the 9.000,000,000 ci»p of 1891 was 5S7.0U), whereas, for the present week, acconlin- lng to N<*w Orleans dlj-iMtches, it prt*l>- ably S5.000. It Is also argued that the interior receipts so far are singular# miftll in view of the bis crop estimates. Liverpool today advanced 4 to 4% points, but lost half ot this later on Us spot sales of 35.000 at a rise of 1-S2d., making 78,000 In a few days. The South was buy ing here. It Is stated that it Is hard to buy cotton at the official prices quoted at sxme Southern points. Cotton goods tire stronger. The raw cotton has mot's friends. Cooler weather was predicted for seme points ?n the South. Nashville reported a temperature of 46 degrees and Little Rock 43. Some former bears of prominence here turned bulls. One for mer bear house bought 20.000 bales main ly for long account Savannah advanced % of a cent and N0V York, Memphis and Wiimidgton 1-16 on the spot. Nejw Orleans futures were irregular, but ehow some advance. Manchester was stronger. Houo- ton’s receipts were liberal, 16,600, against 9,300. New Orleans* receipts for tomor row are estimated at 13,000, against 7,236 last year. Warmer weather was predict ed for Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ar kansas and Alabama, but lower tempera ture on the Atlantic ooast. Heavy rains are reported In some parts of the Karo linas. Cotton is considered cheap. The actual cotton is selling more freely. Out siders are beginning to take a hand and the situation looks more cheerful. LIVERPOOL. tifernmi. The action wn* nervous ond irr^ular, but the final tone weak at almost tho -xtreme low point, The feature of the session may bo said to have been the quiet that followed an unconfirmed rumor of the death of the Czar of Russia. When It was found that there .was no foundation for tho report beyond the fact that his condition was dangerous, tho market declined with as much promptness as It had advanced. There were numerous upurts of.uctJyity and strength, each followed by free sell ing and consequent breaks. December wheat opened at 5414 to MH. sold between C4Ha% and 53%, closing at 53%a%. Corn was irregular the came as wheat, but was enabled to preserve a less de pressed condition than wheat presented at the close. The opstilng was firm with some of yesterday’s bull feeling still pre vailing. There was free selling Hter with nn advance on the rumor mentioned as influencing wheat. The closing was easier with May unchanged frdm yesterday. May corn opened from 51% to 51%, sold sit bl%, declined to 5($4a% and dosed at 50%. Cash corn was 1% to 2 centsh igher than yes terday with an excellent deivuvd lor car lots, which were bringing a premium over October. Oats.—/IYiere -was nothing startling to tKe trade in this grain. The advances and recedings of wheat and corn, were faithfully followed, the close being at a acllne of % of a* cent from yesterday for tay. Cash oats wero str\>ng and % a snt per bushel higher than yesterday. Provisions were still laboring under the Was 1U itiiis »vns* J * uary pork, 5 cents for January lard and IV, to 10 cents lower lor January rlt». FUTURE QUOATIONS.
