‘The Georgia Magnet,” Mrs. Annie
Abbott of MUlodgevtlK, Oa., well
known In Macon, where her sister,
Mra. W. H. Cornell, lives, having
frequently apppeared here, has been
the sensation In New York for ten
days pest.
Uhc will to readily recalled aa tho
frail HUlc lady who appeared at the
Academy of Music about eight months
ago and performed wtx.it were regard
ed as wonderful fealu. Her tricks were
very similar to those of Che famous
Lula Hurst. She explained that she
was possessor of « peculiar force. «ic
nature of which she herself could not
explain, but wbfch was very powerful.
Her claims to such power .were seem
ingly well supported by her perform
ances.
She proved herself entirely Inde
pendent of the law* of gravitation, nnd
resisted die strength of a dozen giant
men,
She went to Now York quite rccontly
and has set the metropolis wild. H»r
performunon attracted the attention of
liuraed eclemtets, who could not ex-
pluln the wonderful magnetism she
seemed to possess, and nil Goffim
wss puzzled. The papers hud column
after column tolling of what she dM,
dll highly embellished with pictures.
•But tt seems that revelations made
by Nellie Bly. Oho famous newspaper
woman, have explained ithe aensatlon

Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Abbott
gave a private performance to the re

the World office. 8he did several of
her tricks successfully, and the entire
aiMlence, with tho exception of Nellie

and bogam experimenting at once, with
the result, she says, or eclipsing Mrs.

thus making him so heavy that no

tells huw She did tho same trick In
this .way:
"So. upon the carpal I pMoed them.

the boy’s arm, the boy's left hand on
the editor's, his right on the editor’s
