Th« JAU1 River operatives have agreed
to go to work Monday at the 10 per cent,
reduction In wages. The two bull cards
today were Liverpool snd cold weather.
Many operators were afraid of frost over
Sunday and covered up, preferring to
await developments. A frost at this stage
of the season would undoubtedly drive In
some of the Wgg-'r bears and cause a
sharp upward movement in prices.

Chicago, Oct. 13.—Phe last week has
been a very dull one. trade has been very
moderate ar.d mostly local; nothing has
transpire! to disturb tho serenity ot the
situation; even the government report
failed of effect, which, however, is not
to be wondered st, as It was pretty well
discounted, «n<1 the market ho# gradually

new records, but the general disinclina
tion to enter th# nrurkot and sell short
would indicate that prices are dragging
on a hard bottom anil nny favorable
new# of consequent? Is b>und to send
prices up. Exports of 3.327.000 bushrts
show a decided Increase, while there Is
a noticeable falling off In the Northwest
ern receipts, which has been a depressing
factor, while the visible supply on Mon
day Is not expected to increase over 760,-
000 bushels. It is true Monday's increase
•was much larger than expected, yet It Is
but a question of time when conspicuous
decreases *vlll be posted. There has been
aome Inquiry for ie»l wheat, and Now
York reports sales there at materially
Wisher prices than has recently been ob
tain iblo. The foreign markets have shown
some strength, especially Paris. Today
has been a very quiet one In all pits;
wheat has been unusually dull and prices
conilncd within % to U of a cent range.
