declare In the most unmistakable um'u-

the British people wish to abolish tho
liouso of lords or roduco It to lielploxs-

Till* cannot lie, douc except by revo-

’Dm last report of tho ngi-lcultnral
dopgrlmeat estimates tho corn crop of
Nebraska this- yonr as boiug only 14
per copt. of an avenge crop. (Siu-lt a
fuHuro would causa distress even In
Goorglp, ivliere corn Is not tho princi
pal crop. In Nebraska it means disas
ter to the farmers from which many
of them cgu never recover, for with
them com Is Uic,r prlnelpil crop and
they are about the worst mortgage-
ridden people In tho country.
Experience like this Is certain to have
Its effect In time on tho Northwestern
farmers aud on tlio immigrants who
have been seeking tlmt part of tho
country during recent years. It will
prove to them that the Northwest,
swept by blizzard* m winter and
Hcorehed by excessive heat In summer,
Is n less desirable country to live in
than the South, It Will compel them
to look to tlio easily uceoseihle country
where blizzard* do not blow and where
drouths may damage but never destroy
enip*. When, the comparative re
source* and advantages of the two sec
tions come to lie compared, tbo .South
will be preferred. lXereloforo they
liuvn not boon compared liy the people
who have rushed to tho West la such
vast numbers.
As will he seen by our local columns,
the niauagers of the Dixie Fair arc

ho attractive as it is now. Tlio t!3d
