Now York, Oct 15.—TWe weight of the actual cotton anl disappointing Liver pool advices more than counterbalanced the effect of cold weather advices at tlto South, although at the opening there was un advance here of 1 to 2 points. Tho government reported killing frost at Ar lington, Bolivar and Milan, Tenn, with temperature of SO to 83 degrees, prlvato dlkpatdhcs reported killing frost at Ben- nettesvllle, S. C.. light frost at Columbia, S. C., frost at Eufaula,A Ala., and one dispatch from Memphis reported killing frosts. But receipts at the porta ran up to 82,000, against 00,W4 this diy last week and 50,718 last year. Thus far this week 126,$3, against '07,799 for same time last week. Liverpool declined i-88d on the Bpot and was quite irregular for futuiys, opening 2 points lower and then recover ing this and fluctuating quite frequently and Anally ending tteady at a net de cline of ft point Spot sales there were 15,000 bales. Manchester was quiet and yarns weak. New Orleins opened strong er, but later on declined 4 point* Spot quotations were lowered 1-16 at N.*w York* Mobile and Charleston, about 1-16 at Augusta, and New Orleans and Mem phis were weak. There was quite a goed Fpot business, however, sales beins tS*4 for "spinning here, 1000 at New Orleins. 6.000 at Memphis. 2.275 at Savannah and 1,200 at Mobile. Exports from the parts tel: y. 16,216. Houston received 15,4*. against 8.203 last year; Memphis, <*ga> nst 8,797, and Augusta, 2,848, against \&)4 last year. The estimate for N8wj0£ ana tomorrow is 95.00% against 3.4m 1st year. There was considerable lens CASH QUOTATIONS Flour slightly improved in foreign de- mar.d. Prices still favor buyers. No. 2 spring wheat, o'.ftaft cents. No. 2 corn, 48% cents. No. 2 oats, 28 cents. Pork, 12.75 to 13.00. Lard, 7.65 to 7.70. r " "*/ Short clear sides, 5.6.1ft to 6.70. Dry ealt shoulders, 6.12ft to 6.25. Short clear sides, 7.00 to 7.12ft. Whisky, 81.23. CHICAGO GAAIN AND PROVISION. Chicago, Oct. 15.—Wheat Was very sick today. Depressing Items of news were received from every quarter and a lack of confidence resulted. The visible supply report was almost as far away from the eXuct increase ot t.4 f «0,u00 b ishela as they were on last Monday. Outside predictions were that 1,000.000 bushels increase would take place, but tho popular figure was 600,000 bushels. The selling toward! the dose was general with practically no s*:p* port to the market. December wheat opened at G3ft, touched &3ft, declined to 6214, where it clos-.d. Corn.—The weakness of wheat over powered com prices today, although the visible supply decrease was 526,000 bush els and the amouut on ocean passage ,963.000 bushels. The receipts, although not fully up to the expectations, were large- 173 cars—and larger estimates for tomor row are presaged, indicating a further Improvement in the movement; There was a car of new corn received today, which although not passing grade be cause of dampness, nevertheless served ♦0 remind the trade that the new crop was upon the market. May opened at 49ft, declined to 48ft,* closing at tno inside, ft of a cent below Saturday. Oats were forced lower by the decline of wheat. The trade was devoid of feat ure. besides bfcing dull most rof the ses sion. There were no withdrawals from stores. . ^ FrovlSlons.—Tiie packers were tho best sellers of product during the morning hour*, but wore endeavoring to keep prices from breaking under tho offerings. Scalpers were a 111*1* timid until after the visible supply of wheat was posted for fear that tho snow would advance tliat cereal and sympathetically affect products, but when grain became so in tensely weak tber caot aside caution and sold freely. The close was 10 cents lower than Saturday for January pork, 10 cents lower for January lard and 7*4 cents lower for January ribs. X.AMSON BROS.’ GRAIN LETTER. Chicago, Oct 15.—The market on wheat has been weak and sagging; prices show a lot from the very start. The amount on passage decreased 352,000 bushels, but weakness In Liverpool a.tis teen a factor. Cables say Ruertan offerings are over whelming. The local receipts of 129 cars wsre 49 cars over the estimate, while those in the Northwest, although slightly under last year, were heavy n.t 1<M. Trade has been extremely dull the entire day and shorts had little difficulty In working down prices to 52ft-a new record. .The increase of 1,160,000 In tho visible 'fcupply exceeded all expectations. There was a conspicuous lack of buying at the de cline and the close was exceedingly tame at the low point. The exports wero only 150,000, wheat and flour. The disinclina tion to enter tho market is still very no ticeable. Traders on the short side of the corn market have had things all their own way and have scored a gain of % of a cent. A car of now corn Is reported to have been received here today, but of too poor a quality to grade. Car lots for tomorrow of 275 show an Increase, while lack of cash demand still has Its effect on trad*. A little strength waa by % docre*M of K6.000 bushel. In visible figures. It w»s but tempoiary, however, the sentiment of local trader* bems against any improvement, and May waa quoted at IS',. Commission houses nail a low lirtit buying orders, while Ihe local trade was prSelly of the -eUlngcrder Oats, like the other grains, ruled dull and heavy. Offerings were quite plentiful while there was but a scattering of pur- casers. The visible supply Increased M,- MO bushels. Prices at the close how a los of Vi to K ofa c ent. Provisions opened at a shade loss In, price. The cash trade wa, very poor, while h<^e at the yards were barely steady and 5 to 10 cents lower in prhe. Speculation In futures Is very limited mid prices have been conllned within a purge of 10 cents the entire session. London Bros. & Co. NAVAL STORES.
