CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS.
Chicago, Nov. 1.—The falling off In
the receipts of wheat at the primary
markets b beginning to have lu nat
ural effects on prices of that grain.
Beginning wiili the first trades and
continuing with one or two short pe
riods of miideratlon there was a mar
ket of convincing strength until the
last grades were made loday. In ud-

Corn—The rains and their probable
eftect on the movement of corn in

Oats—Those, who bought oats were
rewarded with a fair proflt today. The

wore steady.

product held well today In the face of
weakness In the live nog market at
the yards. No doubt there would have
been less ability to maintain quota
tions had It not been for the strength
evinced by grain, which had an indi
rect influence over provisions. The
close was 2 1-2 cents higher than yes
terday for January pork and riba, aud
unchanged for January lard.
