CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVI810N8
Chicago, Nov. 3.—A little boom In
wheat took place today, which although
Miowlug no very great advance In
prices, wa# held to be an evidence of
changing sentiment and the long-look-
ed-for recovery. It was not aulte char
what tho strength wss due to, but the
fact was plain that the local trade was
working on the "long" side. Decem
ber wheat opened at 63 1-8, gold from
63 1-8 to 63 1-3, closing ut 63 1-3—1-4 .or
a coot higher than yesterday. Cash
wheat was steady and 1-4 of a oent
higher.
Corn acted Independently of wheat
during tu» enure uau-miMiday aewum.
As Ute wet and rainy weaklier of the
past Pew days wa* largely resiponsluie
tor the strength and advance, so In
like manner uld the line clear weather
and forecast dor a continuation of It
reduce the market to the condition pre
viously ruling. Weakness was the tone
all d.iy, receiving emphasis lrom a
prospective heavy .movement next
wee*, the large estimate for Monday
being taken els a ptvourrer of what was
to follow. May corn opened from 615-8
to 61 1-8, declined 40 60 7-8 hud closed
at 61—1-2 a coot lower Hum y0.leru.1y.
Caoii corn was steady at unchanged
prices.
Frices of oats declined In sympathy
wlili tho corn mantel. Weakness
ruled from tho beginning (0 the end
of the sosslosi, 110 noteworthy btnslnera
being uumucted. May nosed j.g of d
coni lower than yesterday, cash oat*
sold about 1-4 of a cent under yester
day.
Provisions,—Product was very heavy
today. II was not so much tho pres
sure of offerings, although ‘there w.ip
plenty on sale, as the fear otf some long
stuff coining out that caused the de
pression In ‘tho market. The weakness
In com was also a factor of some Im
portance and tended to check any in
clination to buy. Beyond steadying
price* temporarily at tho KUtrt, a
hog market was of no avail os sin In
fluence. The close w.m 13 1-3 cents low
er than yvelcrdny for January pork
and 7 1-3 cento each for January lard
and January ribs.
