The amount coming Into sight this week is estimated at 525,000 bales. The weekly port receipts axe expected to bo 395,000 to 400,000 bales, against 428,000 bales last week and 292,0000 bales last year. The interior receipts for the week are estimated at 255,000 bates, against 175,-9 i7i b,ilea last year. Houston received 90,- C53 for the week, against 107,165 last week. Cooler weather f was generally predicted. A failure of an old house was reported In Havre. There was some new buying here as well as considerable covering. A New Orleans dispatch said the local short In terest has been heavily Increased during the past week. The large movement of the crop shook out some discouraged longs and the market has an evened up appearance. Most bears ore very cautious owing to the cheapness of the price. A sharp falling off in the receipts or a de cided improvement in Llvcerpool seems essential to any material or permanent advance here. * Stevens & Co. LIVERPOOL. By Special wire to Lyon & James. Chicago, Nov. 9.—The wheat market opened active with prices at a fair ad vance. ami as a result offerings were quite liberal!. Commission houses were holding good orders and tflie market gradually advanced further. .‘Foreign'advices were firmer an higher, proving quite a factor. V’^tlons point.to a decided disposition In Liverpool to manipulate that market, owing to the light stocks. A private ca ble states stocks of wheat and Hour in Europe and afloat today are 25,000,000 bushels, 10,000,000 less than a year ago. Eastern ndvlces report good buying nt Now York for London account, forty loads being taker, at the seaboard for export. It is also reported that there was heavy purchasing for continental account with reiteration of the report that China and Jagan are buying flour from miners on the. Pacific coast. Why not? Flour is certainly cheaper than rice. With 21,000,- 000 bushels short In Europe ond.qfloat and the exceedingly small stock of flour in tlie hands at wholesale and rtail grocers if taken from the visible Bupply of this country would make the stocks in Bight look very small to the man who has it. Wheat sold around 55 cents. Owing to Incomplete returns from feeling oprntors th government report tomorrow, It la.ru- mpned, will not treat of this v question. The rtwttcet on corn was fairly firmer at the opening. Commission houses, however, hail good sealing orders and with very little demand, mainly from scalpers, suf fered a loss of % of a cent. This cereal as ruled dull the entire session, interest being centered in wheat. There was a little demand toward the close and this Improved the cash demand. Speculative future* in hog product con tinue to rule strong without special feat ure. Sympathy w... fcraln and outside buying are the bull factors. The re ceipts of hogs at the yards were 3,000 over the estimate, but firmer and active and 5 cents higher. Lamson Bros. & Co. GRAIN AND PROVISIONS. Chicago, Nov. 9,-^Thec ourse of wheat was steadily upward today, prices gain ing strength as they advanced. The In spiration seemed to come from abroad, but minor Influences seconded the move ment Liverpool sales at the start came with a gain that was entirely out of pro portion to our appreciation of yesterday* and advance of from %d to Id being glv- and closing advices reported *ida*£d additional. New* York waa leading in strength and early in tho day was promi- netly Identified- with the buying, side in ihs market, later, however, showing but little If any interest. May wheat opened from 69%a%, sold between 59*« and CO 14 cents, closing 1ft cents.higher than yester day at 60*/4a*4. The demand for car lota was good, sales averaging V4 a- cent high er, the nominal close being a full cent over yesterday. i Com—A strictly local business was transacted in corn with the firmness due entirely to the strength of wheat. Spec ulation wus, as far as the outside wad concerned, out of the market. May com opened from 50 to 50#, sold between 45# and 50% and closed at 60#—V4a% of a cent higher than yesterday.
