In the city, tho Macoa Gun Club had a
ohoot at their Kroundo at the pork yes
terday afternoon.
There wao a lurge attendance of opec-
tutor® and they enjoyed It very much,
especially the exhibition of«qulck shoot
ing by Mr. Helices, who, by the way, Is
tho chainplon target nhot of the world.
He uses the Winchester repeating shot
gun, and with It reudlly broko two tar
gets thrown Into the air bofore they
reached the ground, firing the second
time as quickly oh can be done with a
double-barrelled gun. Ife afterward broke
three targets thrown the same way, then
four out of live, firing five shots while
they were In tho air, but missing one.
He stated that he didn't have tho gun
especially adapted to that kind of shoot
ing, the ono he used making too close a
pattern; but he dbl enough to astonish
thoro present and convince them that a
good repeating gun was effective If prop
erly handled.
The first match, at twenty-five targets,
resulted us follows:
llclkes, 20; Hike, 21; Raymond, M; Eth

Messrs. Etheridge and Troutman and
the Ohio gentlemen had just returned
from a week's hunt In Florida* They re
ported sn abundance of partridges and
doves and excellent sport. These essen
tials* together with the companionship
of crack shots, who are also "princes of
good fellows," made nn outing which will
remain a pleasant memory to tho partlel*
pants.
The Ohio crack shots left this morning
at 1:35 on the Southern. They expressed
thoBMlves ns delighted with their South
ern trip both socially and as hunters.
Tho abundance of game f.i Georgia and
Florida was a revelation to them and
they made the most of lb Mr. Helkrs
says that he never shot ut but sdx part
ridges In his life until he came South
ami that he only killed two of those. Thla
statement sounds strange comtmr from
a man who Is tho rccognlxed crack shot
of tho world.
While In Macon the Ohio party were
the guests of Messrs. -‘Etheridge and
Troutman, who met them In Tennessee
lust year and Invltod them down here.
Tho Ohio party never forgot the Invita
tion, and after finding such flue sport
hero expressed themselves ns being glad
they came. They wlM probably come
again next year.
