. GRAIN AND PROVISIONS.
Chicago, May 2I.-The act ton of wheat
won purely selling today. The morning
hours were distinguished by a sharp
break, but a sharp rally near the close
fOlio-wed, which left prices 4v a cent
higher tWam yesterday. The early eer.lng
■was of long whealt with the bears again
appearing as- Short sellers. Prices re
sisted the selling force for a tune, hut
eventually broke, July declining to 7114—
35i cants urtler the high point of yester
day. From that .point there -was a steady
rise, more than the full decline of the
day being made up. July opened from
72% to 73. sold between 7154 an d«54 clos
ing at .7354, with the gain, above notea.
Cash wheat was 1 cent lower, dosing
ftrm with the futures.
Coro—The receipts of corn, 917 tars,
■were large, exceeding oven the liberal
estJmaito made yesterday. The quality
of the arrival -was gaM, 833 cars grading
contract. The feeling catty this morning
fn com .was not ao strong consJJertng
this faot and -the [weakness of wheat.
The later aetton was governed by that
of -Wheat At the close tlhera was quite
ftrm tone, many of those who had sold
early taking hack their com m some
Instances at a loss. July corn opened at
5354. sold bdJween (3 and 6354, ctestng at
64-54 a cent higher than yesterday. Caen
cento sold about 51 of a oent under yester
day, but closed Arm.
Oat* followed wheat and com on me
decline, but were umlble to co-operate
with them on -the rally. Trading was
tight. July cloeed 54 of a cent under
yedterviay. Cash oats were 54 to 1 cent
per bushel tower.
Provisions.—The country orders to buy
which were so numerous In the product
market yesterday were conspicuous for
their absence today. The Jump was
too rapid, the local crowd thought, so
they forced prices lower today. The eirly
weakness of wheat hed eomatJUng to do
with She decline In provTslons. Hogs
were reptesented as being 5 cents higher,
but tho announcement bad no effect.
The rictre was 1754120 cents lower ror
July pork, 1254 cents lotwer for July lard
to lower - - -
and 15 cento !
for July ribs.
