The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Hew-
c-tt died at the home of.its father
on Jackson street on Friday, and was
buried from the South Macon Metho
dist church on Saturday afternoon.
Rev. J. W. Ferrell was the officiating
minister.
The interment was at the South Ma>
con cemetery, where the mother, Mrs.
j Hewitt, was laid to rest two weeks
since.

A protracted meeting has been held
at the South Macon Methodist church
during the’last week. On Friday even
ing, the pastor, Rev. J. B. Ferrell, was
assisted by Rev. A. N. Morgan of
lentenary Methodist church and Rev.
, v. Robertson of the East Macon
Methodist church. Rev. Mr. Morgan
conducted the services of the evening,
A sunrise prayer service was held
on Sunday morning. At the regular
morning service Sunday, several can
didates presented themselves at .the
Invitation for full membership and
were received, the rites of baptism
being administered to two of those
offered.
Mr. Perry Wall of Putnam county.
Fla., a son of Representative Wall of
that state,, is spending a few days in
the city, the guest of Mr. W. Bracken
at his home on west Elm street.
The new store room now In progress
of building on the corner of Haw
thorne and Second streets, will be
fitted up with all of the modern im
provements pertaining to a first-class
drug store In fixtures and appurtenan
ces. It will be occupied by Mr. Mar
shall, who will open up with a full
stock of drugs In the next two weeks.
The building Is the property of Mr.
Peter Harris. The second story will
be used as a public hall.
The residents of the southern portion
of the city and South Macon hall with
satisfaction the growing Interest in the
matter of the draining of the reserve
below the city, and they are flattering
themselves with the hope that nothing
more will Interfere with the consum
mation of this much desired and vital
necessity.
The name of Mr. E. Wallthall was In
advertently left out as one of the pall
bearers In the notice of the funeral of
Mr. Dewberry, published on Friday In
the Telegraph.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman of
Savannah are spending a few weeks
very pleasantly at the home of Mrs.
William Davis, the mother of Mrs.
Freeman, in Newburg.
Mrs. Fred Ellis Is quite til at the
family residence on West Heights.
Rev. W. Patterson of Wilkinson
county, a minister of the Baptist de
nomination, preached at their church
on South Third street to a large con
gregation on Friday night. The regu
lar revival service of this church,
which will continue three days, will
begin on Friday beforp the fourth Sun-
<day In this month, (June.)
Several ministers of the church will
be present, and the services will be
filled with unusual Interest, that of
Sunday morning especially. The holy
sacrament will be administered, and
the washing' of the fee't of members
by each other, a type of humility will
form part of the service. There will
be a large attend* tee from the sur
rounding districts during the series
of meetings.
Miss Eula Ryder and Miss Maude
Stanley are spending the week with
friends In the Rutland district.
The young ladies atended the exer
cises of the Walden high school.
Mr. Mike Daly of South Macon Is
visiting his old home, in county Meath,
Ireland. It is expected that tidings
, of his safe arrival on the emerald
\ Isle will be received today by his fam-
