foreign traders. It was a small local mar
ket throughout the session.
At the data the tone was steady at a
net point ..lower to a point higher, with
coin
total sales ,of 36,000 bales. Estimated re
ceipts at the ports today were 3,000 bales,
splnnig, against 4,740 last week and 4.549
last year. This week 30.000 bales against
41,447 last week, and 33,135 last year. Mem
phis 169, last year 435; Houston 500, last

New York, May 15:—Cotton market was
narrow and uninteresting today. The
opening call showed a Toss of 1 to 3
points, cables being disappointing, and
private weather crop news showing a
bearing average. After fluctuating within
a range of four points or less, tho mar
ket dosed steady with prices finally
showing a net gain of ono point to a net
loss of ono point. Following Hlio strength
shown by tin- spot department. 11 Huther
advance of l*16o was made on spot quota
tions. ’
