A
CARNIVAL IS COMING
IN BLAZE OF GLORY
The Manager Presents a List of His Attractions for the
Street Fair and Carnival, April 29, May 4, Says
He Will Make Street Plaza a Realm of
Wonders and Every Promise He Has
Made Will Be Fulfilled.
And now that Mr. Berger's Grand
(Street Fair and Carnival is an assured
event, what is it that he intends to
offer in the way of a spring entertain
ment for the entertainment of the peo
ple of Macon and their friends, who
may come to visit them and enjoy the
attractions which he will assemble in
the • Third street plaza for the week
beginning Monday, April 29, and clos
ing Saturday, May 4?
“One solid mile- of sights,’* he calls
it. and says it will occupy eight blocks
and. possibly more.
What are th*se sights?
They are sufficient says Mr. Berger, r later,
to constitute an entire week of fes
tivities. •
Many of these attractions will be free
to the public, including the following:
The aerial high divers, leaping from
-/ tower 100 feet high, turning a double
somersault in mid air and striking a
tank with only three and a half feet of
water. .*,'*
The aerial trick bicyclists, Charles

In addition to the foregoing Mr. Ber

tractions, which will be announced
The aggregation will be such,
. s, that not only the citizens of
Macon but -those who shall come from
a distance will be mopt abundantly sat-
ipfled with the presentation.
Mr. Berger in bringing about this coiir
centratlon of attractions has heen aided
hy the reputation which Macon lias
hitherto gained in fulfilling promises
made to the public Jn the matter of
carnival entertainments. He has, he
fays, been compelled to refuse many
more attraction? than he has accepted.
The Freshman and Sophomore speak
ers for Mercer commencement have
been chosen and are preparing their
programme. It is understood that the
laculty have decided to abolish rko
Freshman and! Sophomore contest-
after this term, on the ground that no
instruction in declamation, strictly
speaking, is Included in the college
course. It Is thought, also that by thin
means greater stimulus will be given
to speaking of a higher order in the
debates and literary societies. While
