The Macon Driving Club devoted
most of its time last night to roasting
^hc Piedmont Driving Club for the too
business-like way In which the recent
races in Atlanta were conducted. Ma
con furnished the starter for the races,
and he reported that he had not only
been required to pay his way Into th*

seeing the judges without score cards,
and unable to tell what was going on,
he bought one for each of the judges.
It was also reported that live of the
eight men who entered horses from
Macon had to pay their own way to
see their horses trot, and some of .the
drivers had to pay to get into the gate
to drive. One member reported that
when he asked for a complimentary
ticket to witness the event In which
his horse had been entered, the man
ager of the races offered him 50 cents

HOARD OF HEALTH^ PUT A STOP TO
THIS LONG COMPLAINED OF NUI
SANCE LAST NIGHT—ORDINANCE
1IEIXG DRAWN VP FOR Pi BLICA-
TlOX—FLOOR Dl'ST GOES TO SL’-
lll'RUS. , 4
The board of health last night passed
an ordinance that has been advocated
at various times for the past twenty
year s.
The ordinance, which is now being
drawn, is to prohibit carpet cleaning
inside the city. Those who have such
work to do will hereafter be required
to go outside of the city limits, and a
failure to comply with the ordinance
will subject the offender to a fine or Im
prisonment, or both.
Heretofore It has been the custom to
beat carpets under people’s open win
dows In any part of the city, and the
dust and dirt was sent from the car
pets Into the nostrils of neighbors, and
no amount of complaining brought re
lief, but the board of health found that
during the spring just passed the nui
sance was unbearable, and they have
decided that It shall not bo tolerated
any longer. Now It will bo In Mncon,
as in other cities, against the law to
beat carpets anywhere within the cor
porate limits.

THE FIVE STATE INSTITUTIONS IN
MACON—MERCHANTS EXPECTING
A GREAT TRADE.
Beginning Thursday morning and
continuing until Saturday night.
State Treasurer Robert E. Park cv
pleted h!s inspection of the live st
banks in Macon yesterday, and left for
Holton last night to join his family.
He thoroughly looked into the affairs
of the Exchange, the Central Georgia,
the Union Savings, the Commercial
Savings and tho Macon Savings banks,
and to a Telegraph reporter he said:

Sufferers from hay fever and summer

there Is a new, simple, inexpensive but
effective home treatment for this ob
stinate and baffling disease, and that
a little booklet fully describing the
treatment will be mailed free to any
one by addressing the F. A. Stuart Co.,

Doubtless this statement of a cure

the thousands who have found the
only relief every year was a change of
climate during the summer months.
