CLEVELAND. O., Jan. 17.—Dr. Geo.
W. Crlle, a prominent member of the
Ole vo la lid Medical Boclcty, has con
tributed an article to the current
Cleveland Medical Journal announc
ing that through the use of a fluid
called "adrenalin,” life can be restored
to apparently dead bodies.
The article quotes Dr. Crlle as fol
low*:
• By the combined use of Intraven-
tods Infusions of adrenalin, artificial
respiration, and rhythmical pressure
upon the thorax over the heart, ani
mals, dead as long as fifteen minutes,
were restored to life. Animals decapi
tated were mafio to live ten and a half
hours."
Dr. Crlle states that adrenalin Is an
extract gotten from the glands directly
above the kidneys of animals. It has
been used heretofore for increasing
blood pr« ssure both in human beings
and brutes.

COLL’MBL’S. Ga.. Jan. 17.—Becaus*
the middle of the road was too narrow
for both of them. Sam Elliott, a well-
known white farmer of Ghattahoorhea
county, and Gus Gaines, a negro of th*'
same county, had a duel at short rang'
this afternoon on the Glade road In
Muscogee county, a mile or two from
the Chartahoochee line. The two met
this morning, and some words passed
between them, but there was no shoot
ing. This afternoon th“\ nut again,
Mr. Elliott driving his team one way.
and the negro coming from his .vas;!i
in the opposite direction. The negro re
fused to give him his share of th“ road
way and the two wagons locked. Ac
cording to the report received h* r *.
both men pulled their pistols and t‘.r*d
several shots. The negro was: shot
through and through, and was very
dangerously hurt. He was brought to
t’olumbus tonight. Mr. Elliott, so far
as known, is uninjured.
