The Chamber of Commerce held . Its
refular monthly meeting yesterday.
Mayor tfmltb, from the apeclal com
mittee on the auditorium, reported that
the committee went to Waahiniton and
received from the government officiate
evlry aaaurance, except an actual con
tract for rental, that the government
would rent (he building when erected.
He said that since the committet’a .re
turn, Inquiries had been made as to
whnt would be Included In the way of
*t< mn heat, light and water. He also
stated that Bnator lift con ond con
gressman JJartlett had been (inked to
bid/in securing a rental contract from
thn government.
Mr. Howard M. Smith, chairman ot
the apeclal committee on annexation,
submitted n report In which he stated
that tits citizens ot VlnevlUe were about
to bring the subject bafora council,with
a view to annexation, and tha commit
tee was of the opinion that It was ad
visable to defer action till the citisent
of VlnevlUe had acted. He offered the
following resolution:
"Whereas, we are advised that there
Is now pending a petition from certain
citizen* of VlnevlUe to the mayor and
council of Macon looking to the annex
ation ‘to the city of certain territory
designated in said petition, and
"Whereas. It is the sense of this body
that the ls*ue of annexation, the ques
tion of Incorporating the suburbs into

Mr. E. A. Waselbaum said that
Gainesville, On., had. been visited with
a terrible affliction. Score* of people
were dead, scores ware dying and hun
dreds were homeless. There was heed
of help, and Macon should do her
share. He moved tha appointment of a
committee of five to solicit subscript
ions for the relief of those In need in
the stricken city.
The motion waa adopted by a unani
mous vote, and President Martin named
at such committee E. A. Waxelbaum,
Malcolm Jones, Bridges Smith, Leon 8.

O'Connell la perhaps twenty pounds
heavier than McDonald, and he has a
longer reach. He Is a stronger man
than hie opponent of last night. But
McDonald Is u professional wrestler,
and has more science then O’Connell.
The letter ts an amateur wrestler.
McDonald resides In Macon, though
his former home Is in Atlanta. He la a
barber. White O'Connell had the ad
vantage in strength, reach and weight,
McDonald was his superior in expejl-
