the condition of the Bibb county con
vict camps will close this morning
when Prison Commissioner Tom Eason
winds up his Investigation. He came
down from Atlanta last night and stop
ped over at the Brown Ilouae until this
morning when he left early for the
camps and to Investigate fully aa re
gards the sanitary status. He will de
termine upon what changes arc neces
sary, If any. and make the auggeatlona
to the superintendent and authorities
before leaving for home.
When seen last night he talked re
garding the purpose of hts visit. The
investigations which were made by the
sub-committee from the legislature
were carried out through the custom of
house committee to have each camp of
the slate Inspected yearly. This la done
always when the legislature is session
nnd the men who came at first were not
specially delegated to look Into the
death of the negro girl although they
made a report on the findings regard
ing this case on account of the reports
which had been circulated. The felony
convicts of the state only camo to Bibb
county In.April and the first Inspection
by a committee from the legislature
took place at the regular session.
The prison commission has the spe
cial mission of regulating the sanitary
condition of the camp according to the
recommendations of the house com
mittee and the business of the official
at the present time |s to point out to
the authorities what should be done.
