ATLANTA, July 22.—Chairman M.
O. Tollman* of the state Democratic
executive comlttee who Is here today,
annouced that he would soon call a
meeting of the committee for the pur
pose of filling four vacancies on the
electoral ticket, caused by that number
of electors being disqualified to serve
on account of the law prescribing who
are eligible to act aa electors. The law
1 rovldes that no one holding a state or
federal office or who la a director In a
national bank can serve q# nn elector,
and for otn of these reasons four elec
tor* are disqualified.

TIFT ON. On.. July 2*.—Judge John
Morrow called a special term of the
city court yesterday morning for the
purpose of trying John Harris, the ne
gro who attempted an assault upon
Miss Parrish Wednesday afternoon.
Tha negro was found guilty nnd waa
given a sentence of $250, or In lieu
Thereof to serve twelve months at hard
labor In the chalngang, and of course
he will take the twelve months, as no
body would pay his fine.
News has reached Tifton of a pretty
severe rain nnd wind storm which vis
ited the section of country about two
miles north of Sutton postofflce late
Wednesday afternoon. It Is reported
thnt considerable damage was done to
growing cropH, corn being blown down
nnd otherwise injured. One man* re
ported that the damage done nt his
place wns considerable, blowing down
timber nnd a large quantity of his
fencing.
There was also another pretty heavy
rainfall In nnd around Tifton about
dark last night nnd wns accompanied
by a pretty heavy wind, but up to this
time there has not been any serious
damage reported from yesterday’* wind
and rain.
