slaughtered the Tourists yesterday af
ternoon by the bewitching array of
twelve runs against a lone pair. The
bale of hlta which flew from the sticks
of the lockla made the old park re
sound as it did in days not so long
The hlta were drawn In a con

hlta were thicker and more clustered
than flies around a played out syrup
barrel. The hitting was not all done
by the locals either. Augusta swatted
the ball a few by herself. Eight robust
singles were plucked from the system
of Matty, yet he survived It with the
heart of an old timer. The hits made
ff his delivery however, were, as a
rule not linked and therefore created
but small damage, all covered by the
Insurance of local safeties.
While the array of hlta were bussing
through the atmosphere errors were
also being accumulated In big bunches
» Muron was again In the ranka of
leaders and made but one error,
this by Stlckney In the fourth. The
rlsts amassed only ten errors.
{Should visiting teams keep up such a

In placing big round marks opposite
the namos of Tourists who failed to

How the Runs Were Made.
Augusta's first tally was deposited
upon the scoring sheet In the third.
It happenod after two men were out.
Then with Spratt on second Wilson
hit rafe to left, scoring the captain of
the Tourists. Not willing to be out-
Jone In this round the locals tallied
n their half Just to make things pos
sess a more evenly divided uspecL It
was little Matty who turned the trick.
He was pushed around the soggy paths
by Smith’s long double to right.
Smith’s hit fitted In nicely and helped
tHe enormous assemblage to stake a

Augustn again scored In their part
of the fourth. With Bussey resting
quietly upon second Chandler drove
out his second hit of the game to right,
scoring Hussey. Chan tried to make
two sacks on his drive hut was caught
at first by Hoffman. Neat work.
Macon continued her run getting till
It was nil over. Runs were made In
the fourth, fifth and eighth rounds.
In the eighth tho fusllade was the
gri.itrst. Here four runners of the
home bunch looped the loop amid the
roar of four connected hits. So great
was the rapid fire shots that a number
of the local swHtstlcks had to be bid
aside to cool off. Htlckney started Ihe
batting array of this round by going
out from Spratt to Bussey. His suc
cessor, Smith, reached first nfter tak
ing the ball in the ribs. The ball that
soaked Bliley had enough steam Ik*-
hlr.d It to drive a nail through a two
Inch plank, but still the manager nsver
winced. He took his base and went
down to third on Llpe'a third hit. Talk
about conned luck. No ball plnyer

art of dodging from the path of b badly
alined ball. The hall hit*the but as
he dodged and never stopped until It
met the fence In right. Blake flew
out to Engle, no advance. N Rentell
brought home both runners on his
double to centre. This was Hen toll's
third hit during the contest. Hoffman
kept the ball In the sir by driving it
to the weeds In right, Sentcll scoring..
The slugging was now at tho fiercest.
It seemed Impossible to fall to get a
hit. Ktlnaon with already three hlta
to his credit came to the gum und
made good for (he fourth by lining one
out to Kennedy in left. The rotund
fielder seemingly made no effort to cor
ral the ball until It lay spent In the
weeds. By this time Hoffman had
crossed the plats for the last run. of
the game.
During the bewildering outbreak of
hlta Matty was faced by SI would-be
hitlers. Rut of this galaxy but eight
reached first base and but two found
the regions of home.

After the Game
Wasn’t It a snap'
Who said the Tourists could play
ball? It was just lovely billiards.
Matty war again In a winning mood.
He had the opposing sluggers faded
from the start and kept up his great
luck until It was all over. Matty has
now copped five out of. seven games.
Quite a record for a new man In com
pany as fast as this league offers.
The batting averages of several of
the local players are several points
higher today ns a result of the fearful
swatting of yesterday's game. George
Stinson went after the ball with both
hands, feet and bat every time up, Out
of five chances at the bat Georgie rap
ped safely four times, one of the swats
netting a brace of sacks. Sentell and
Ltpc also hit rome over the average,
both of these athletes drawing a trio
of healthy looking singles. Sentell’s
double In the eighth was a beaut and
did the work.
There ls nothing to It Llpe Is the
luckiest man that ever donned a ball
outfit In the Georgia circuit Yesterday
his luck was on hnnd again. In the
ninth Mac tossed a vicious looking ball
toward the third baseman. Llpe at
tempted to dodge the missile but some
how or other his bat got In the path of
the leather. The ball flow to the fence
In right while Llpe trotted with a grin
upon his face to first.
Errors were made as frequently by
the visitors yesterday ns are showers
In April. Scarcely an inning passed In
which mlsplays failed to appear. Kel
ley, Koler and Bussey were the worst
offenders In this respect, each getting
two bad plays chalked up.
Outside of the Tourists’ fielders the
scorers were the hardest worked men
at the ball park yesterday. While not
engaged In marking now the hits of the
Maconltes the time of the scribes was
consumed In handing out errors to the
visitors.
Jacksonville Is nearing the foot of
the ladder with a great spurt at pres
ent. Beems that hoodoo has been
sprung upon the athletes from the ev-
erglades'albce the leaving of King Kel
ley. Since the King packed his trunk
and bid farewell to Jaytown two mana
gers have attempted to stem the tide
of the Jays’ descent but to no avail.
For n time It looked as If Jaytown
would easily finish second, but now
things aro considerably changed. Still
there Is time a plenty remaining In
which to make eleven kinds of moves.
A healthy output of wins at this stage
of the game would completely reverse
the standing of the second division
clubs and at tho same time make havoc
among the traders. Macon and Colum
bia are the only two teams In the
league at present who have anything
like secure grips upon their standings.
All the turmoil and bustling Is now be
ing done by tho clubs stutloncd around
the .500 mark.
