The weekly summary of the Chronicle
was quite favorable, and the private crop
advices from the belt were encouraging,
although the boll weevil complaints from
the Southwest attracted considerable at
tention. The port receipts were of fair

way. Twenty-eight mil's of the new
cron of cotton were reported at Houston,
and the weather reports on me crop were
generally favorable.
Receipts of cotton today at the ports
were 4.0*8 bales against 2.019 bales
last week and 279 bales last year. Eor
the week 18,000 bales against 14,838 bales
uurt weak and 1.471 bales last year. To
day’s receipts at New Orleans were 1,484
bales against 176 bales last year, and
at Houston 31 bales against nothing last
year.
