AMERICUS* GOOD RECORD.
Over Four Hundred Dwelling Houses
Erected During Last Two Years.
AMERICUS. Ga„ Aug. 21.—Amerlcu*
haa made a splendid record In a build
ing way within the peat two years.
Within that period more than 400*
dwelling houses have been erected here,
to say nothing of handsome business
houses costing from $3,000 to $25,000
each. The fact that 400 dwelling
houses have been built, and all of them
occupied, la a splendid attest of the
city’s substantial growth. Industrial
ertterprlses representing $100,000
value have been located here within
that time.
The building of an electric railway
system Is among the strong probabltL
tics of the next year.
The Increase in taxable values In
Sumter this year over 1902 was a half
million dollars. The city is making
vast street Improvements at present,
but despite this expense It does not
owe one dollar floating Indebtedness
and haa thousands In her treasury.
