The Confederate veterans’ barbecue
and camp-flre reunion will be on today
at Central City park and the coming
of visitors has already begun. The lo
cal 9amps of veterans have been pains
taking in preparation for the avent
and all things point to a most enjoy
able occasion.
Those who have been at work on the
different committees have stated that
many visitors will be present and the
city today will be thronged with the
und the young who have been In-
'Ited to take part In this affair. Jones,
Twiggs, Houston, Crawford, Monroe
and other adjoining counties will have
visitors in Macon to attend the barbe
cue and reunion. These counties have
furnished an amount of supplies for
the barbecue and it Is stated that the
eterans will be well prepared to give
the visitors a royal time.
The speakers of the occasion have
been chosen to represent all Interests
the park. Congressman Bartlett,
Hon. N. E. Harris, President Dupont
Guerry, of Wesleyan, nnd Mayor
Bridges Smith will be the principal
speakers. It Is expected that other
prominent men will be on the plat
form and deliver short addresses.
With a bounteous repast of the old-
time Georgia barbecue nnd these
speukers for the day’s program, there
little doubt thnt the veterans will
entertain the crowds with success.
Their efforts to give the visitors nnd
local veterans ahd sons of veterans a
grand time will be fully evinced In the
program. With line weather on this
August day the veterans will gather
and pass a most enjoyable day.
The local veterans and those who
have arrived in time will gather at the
Bibb county court house at 0 o’olock
this morning and will march to Cen
trnl City park. The boy’s band of the
Georgia Memorial Homo will furnish
the music on the march.
The committee on arrangemnts for
this occasion have been chosen from
the Chamber of Commerce and the twi
local camps of Confederate veterans.

the committee on arrangements:
Veterans and' Sons of Veterans, both
local and visiting, will meet Promptly at
Bibb county court house at 9 o clock n.
m., Thursday. August 26th, to go to the
reunion and barbecue. Camp member*
will wear badges; local campa will act
as escort for visiting comrades.
Tho Industrial Home band will meet
at same time and place to furnish mu
sic for the occasion.
Tickets of admission to dining nan
will be distributed at time of assem
bling nnd also at park.
/Tickets will be given to visiting and
local veterans, their families and
friends. No one will be admitted into
dining hall without a ticket.
The committee will receive donations
of baskets from families and friends,
which can be sent to the Georgia Pack
ing Company Thursday morning not
later than 10 o’clock. Mrs. Ham Porter
and other daughter* of the Confedera
cy have volunteered to supervise the
arrangements In the dining hall. These
ladles are requested to meet at the park
at 9 o’clock.
The reunion and convention of the
people of the adjacent counties within
a distance of 100 miles, to which the
railroad rate of a full are and a third

Mrs. Elisabeth Williams died yester
day morning at the home of her daugh
ter, Mrs. 8. B. Barfield, in Vlnovllle.
after an Illness of several months. She
was the wife of Mr. A. J. Williams,
who survives her. She Is also survived
by her daughter, Mrs. fiarfldld.
Mr.and Mrs. Williams were former
residents of Jackson, Ga., but came to
Macon a few years ago and thoy htv
since resided with Mr. and Mrs. S. I
Barfield. They were well known reel
dents of Butts county and are also well
know'n in Macon. The death of Mrs.
Wlllfams will be learned with regret
both at Jackson, Ga., and in Macon.
Both husband and wife have reached a
ripe ana and were hold in high estima
tion by their acquaintances hero and
elsewhere.
Mrs. Williams was of tho truo typ<f
of Southern women nnd exemplified
gentleness nnd a life of sacrifice alwa
characteristic of noble womanhood. S
was of the Baptist belief.
The funeral services will occur at the
residence of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Bur-
field In Vlnovllle this afternoon at -
lock. Rev. J. G. Harrison of Tatt

duct the funeral services. Interment
will take place In Riverside cemetery
