Announcement waa made at the
meeting of tho director* of the Macon
Fair AMOclatlon laat night that both
Jonea and Bulloch countlea would be
represented In the agricultural displays
at the coming fair. It was not stat»<l
that there would be extensive county
displays from either of these counties,
but It Is definitely decided that exhibits
will come to Macon from both. Mayor
Smith made the announcement after
having communications to that effect.
It may be possible that even greater
displays than have been planned will
come from Jonea, but It Is being
worked and there Is much to cause the
people of both these counties and the
Macon Fair Association to believe the
agricultural advantages of these farm
ing countlea will again he seen to great
advantage at the coining fair.
On account of the brief time before
the opening It will be urged that all
merchants and supply dealers get the
space they will need at once. The
question of allotting more than a
space of sixteen feet square to each
man or firm was before the directors
last night and a request for more than
this amount from one concern wna
turned down. It was stated In the
meeting that all space would be noedod
and In order to have It equally divided
no one will get more than his allotted
square. Thla space Is free to the ex
hibitors and enough Is said to be given
for the advantages of nil who will want
to show their goods. It is also said
that the uniform allotment will mako
the displays more beautiful when ar
ranged In the general display.
The discussion of space was directed
townrls supplying tents In the event
of fulling to have ns much ns will bo
needed. Tho committee on space will
bo engaged during the week with the
business of supplying tents or shelters
for such exhibits ns can be made out
side of the halls. It was stated In the
meeting last night thnt the Knir Asso
ciation could furnish either tents or
shelters suitable for exhibits at a rea
sonable cost, and thla will be done
should more than Is already provided
be needed.
Reports wgre made relative to dis
tributing tho premium lists. Thou
sands of copies hnve been placed In
tho hands of tho farmers along tho
lines of the Southern and O. 8. nnd F.
railways In Georgia, nnd more are
going out on the other lines of railroad
lending Into Macon ns fust us the force
employed cun got them out. Mr.
Hhuw who has been employed In the
<1 strlbution of tho list wus retained
for another week, and the premium list
will go to the warehouses of the small
towns throughout the stnte for distri
bution to the farmers. Mr. Hhuw will
also travel and look after the distri
bution of the list In person.
A call was mado for a statement of
nsseta nnd liabilities for the fair asso
ciation. This will he made at the
meeting of next Monday night, nnd
then the directors will proceed to col
lect the funds due from all sourreo
ns well na to pay over all accounts.
All the fifty per cent of the funds for
the privileges on thd grounds has not
yet lN*en paid In, and this will be
looked after during the present week.
It waa tho sense of the meeting last
night to have alt accounts turned in
during the present week and order
them paid when the statement cornea
In at the next meeting.
Mr. Waterman of the committee on
the races nthted to the board last
night that the arrangements which
are made at present will ensure aome
specially attractive features In this
part of the coming fatr. He Is con
fident thnt he will be able to present
the association and the visitors with
some rear treats in races.
Mr. Masses of the committee on
grounds and fences stated that some
extra fencing would be done at the
park, and thla will be completed with
In the next few days.
Mr. Willingham asked that the boys
band of the Georgia industrial Home
be employed for the extra day. which
had been added since the contract
with Rev. Mr. Mumford. The band
I waa allowed $400 for the ten dav’s at I
j a former meeting. At the meeting of j
last night the extra dny was given the
band, and the boys will receive the pro
rata part on the contract for the extra !
I day. They will play on Saturday and 1
will receive the v extra $40.
The parties who have the bar privi
lege* made a request thnt they be at-
] lowed to turn tho building half around
‘ so that It would face the car tracks.
After some discussion of the mutter
It was decided that the building should
remain aa It now stands.
The Question of lighting the park by
a dynamo at the expense of the fair
association wae again before tho body
and a report was made by the commit
tee In chnrge. It waa stated thnt the
parties In conference with the commit-
or furnishing the machinery hud
unable during the week to get the
tlis electrical supplies for the advan
tages coming out of the display and It
was thought that there would be no
trouble In securing what will be needed
to light all the buildings and the
grounds. The board of directors were
not Inclined to accept the offer of the
Macon Railway and Light Company at
a former meeting and have been engag
ed since In plans for furnishing the
lights from the engine and boiler which
will be placed by Mr. Schofield. He
stated at the meeting Inst night that
he expected to have a boiler of not less
than 100 horse power at the park. He
will also furnish the engine and the
shafting connections with fuel for the
holler and a man to look after both
boiler and engine free of charge. The
conimlttee will make a full report on
the lights At the jiext meeting. By this
time they will have all arrangements
made.
A contract with the advance agent of
the shows of Forepaugh and Sells Bros,
was made last week and this was con
firmed at the meeting last night. The
circus will be on the grounds Inside the
race track and Will show In the man
ner of that which was at the Fair last
year.
Reports were made os to rates and
coupon fares on the railroads and ac
cording to statements all business has
been arranged with the railway compa
nies. The railroads are doing their ad
vertising nnd theirs In connection with
that which Is being done by the fair
association Is putting the fair before
the people of the stnte.

Another demonstration of the Impor

i made yesterday. The longest
train of tobacco ever handled by any
railroad In Georgia, consisting
eleven cars, was taken out of Atlnnta
yesterday. Five of these care or forty-
five per cent were for Macon jobbers,
and the remaining six for various other
towns In South Georgia and Alabama
The extraordinary shipment was from
