Out-of-Town Wedding.
A pretty home wedding occurred at
the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George
McNeil! In Amerlcus Thursday, unit
ing Mr. William F. Oeeslin of this city
to Miss Louise Winn of Amerlcus.
The ceremony was witnessed by a
number of relatives and friends, and
hn performed by Rev. R. L. Bivins.
Mrs. H. D. Chapman was matron of
honor, and Mr. Louis Oeeslin was best
man. The other attendants were Miss
Ernie Oeeslin and Mr. Edward Argo.

and James Guerry preceded the bridal
party as they entered the parlor, scat
tering roses In their way.
An informal reception was held after
the ceremony, and elegant refresh
ments were served. Later the bride
and groom left for their homo in
Macon.

Mrs. William Flanders announces the
engagement of her daughter, Luclle, to
Dr. John Armlstead Helden, the wed
ding to take place In November. Mr.
and Mrs. W. W. Williams announce the
engagement of their daughter, Kate
Carewo, to Mr. William James Fleming
of New York, the wedding to occur In
the early autumn.

Bridge Luncheon Given for Mite Young
Miss Iota Baker was hostess at a
pretty bridge luncheon the last of the
week, given In honor of Miss Mec
Young of Valdosta.
This was one of the most enjoyable
of a number of small affairs given dur
ing the week, and the morning was one
of much pleasure to the guests of Miss
Baker who Is a charming hostess.
The prize, a water color, was won by
Miss Rosalind Davis.

o'clock, when she entertained sixteen
young women.
Four-hand euchre was played and
Miss Felice Matthews won the first
prize, a water color picture.
Miss Mary Clarke received the conso
lation prize which was also a pretty
water color.
After, the game a course of refresh
ments was served.

Farewell Perty to Friends.
Mias flattie Winchester and Mr.
Tom Winchester gave a farewell card
party to a number of their boy and
girl friends on Saturday evening.
They both leave on Monday for their
respective colleges at Winston-Salem
and the Virginia Military Institute,
and the Jolly party of friends thor
oughly enjoyed this last evening spent
together, nt the close of vacutlon to a
number of them.
Euchre was played for pretty prises,
and In the course of the evening de
lightful refreshments were served.
Dance nt Log Cabin.
Miss Rose Crutchfield gave a beau
tiful dance at the Log Cabin Club on
Wedneeday evening, entertaining ubout
■Ixty-flve guests.
The club rooms and piazzas were
brilliantly lighted, and presented an
animated scene after the guesta hud
arrived, and the dance was tn progress.
A full orchestra furnished splendid
music, and the dancing continued till
n late hour. Ices and other refresh
ments were server! during the evening.
The affair was chaperoned by Mr.
and Mrs. Merrell Callaway. Mr. and
Mrs. Nut Winshlp and Mr. and Mrs.
John Kuan.
Miss May Hazlehurst Honor Guest
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hazlehurst en
tertained Informally, and very delight
fully at cards on Tuesday evening, for
Miss May Hazlehurst. At the gume of
euchre Miss Nancy Winchester won the
pretty hand-made stock which was giv
en as the ladles* prize and Mr. John
Curd received the gentlemen's prize.
A course of refreshments was served
during the evening, which was one of
much pleasure to their guests.

Miss Mary Troy complimented Miss
Lyra Garrett with a delightful morning
euchre party on Tuesday, at 11 o'clock,
and the game of cards was followed by
a luncheon.
Twenty girl* constituted the guests
of Miss T»-oy and no more Jolly or en
joyable party were entertained during
the week, which has been quite full of
these pleasant Informal,‘affairs, which
the young people are making the most
of, before vacation ends, and they re
turn to the various Institutions of
learning, where they will pursue their

A Bright Student.
Mr. Charles Seifert, who has been
spending his vacation with his mother
at their country homo "Aldorette,"
turned this week to MUledgeville to
resume his studies at the Georgia Mili
tary and Industrial College.
Mr. Seifert, who Is one of the bright
est and most popular students In the
college, has taken a high stand in all
his classes, and his friends are watch
ing his career as a student with much
Interest and pride.

Master Jack Cutler entertained about
thirty of his young friends on the lawn

week. In honor of his birthday. Beats

Returning from Their Summer Flit-
tings.
Mr. and Mrs. McEwen Johnston and
children returned Wednesday from Vir
ginia where they have spent the sum
mer delightfully at the Greenblar White
Sulphur Springs.
Never in years, If ever, has there
been such a gay season, or so many dis
tinguished guests, at this noted, and
charmlnlg old Southern resort, and the
weeks have sped by In a constant
round of gaieties and pleasures In which
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston were prominent
figures, according to the New York
Herald and Journal. One of the most
most brilliant functions of the season,
was the ball given In honor of Henry
G. Davis, which was opened by the dis
tinguished honor guest, with Mrs.
Johnston, and Mr. Johnston with Miss
Davis, the ex-senator’s daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston will spend the
month of September at home, and leave
about the first of October for New
York to visit Mr. Johnston’s relatives.
Before returning to Macon they will
spend some time visiting the World'

visited Mfrs. Johnston last winter.
Midshipman Wilcox Coming.
Midshipman John Wilcox Is expected
home About the middle of September to
spend h!a furlough with his parents,
Capt. and Mrs. J. W. Wilcox. He has
made a splendid'record at tho naval
academy at Annapolis, standing at the
head of all his classes, and will com
plete his course on January 1, 1905, His
visit will bo an occasion of much pleas
ure to his many friends In the city, who
are quite proud of his record.
