Fruit punch was served and a salad
course was served after the game.

A dozen ladles were the gueets of
Mrs. McEwen Johnston on Wednesday
afternoon, whin she entertained at a
bridge party In honor of Mrs. Will
Chambers of Florid* and Mrs. Young
Garrett of Baltimore.
The card table were arranged on the
deep veranda, whose Inviting coolness
was greatly enhanced by the artlstlo
arrangement of tall palms and feme In
Jardlneres, whose feathery fronds
formed a cool and refreshing vista of
green.
The floor was laid with green and
white rugs, and the color motif of the
party was still farther curried out In
the frangrant corsage bouquets, con
sisting of a single white rose, nestling
amid asparagus fern and lemon ver
bena. which marked each guest's place,
and with the pretty gold stick pin ac
companying them were retained as
souvenirs of the delightful occasion.
At the game of bridge Mrs. Will
Chambers made the highest score, and
won the first prize, a beautiful gold
belt pin, on which wsa engraved the
coat-of-arma of Georgia.
In addition* to this, the guests of
honor were each presenttd with gold
hat pins on which their Initials were
engraved.
All the ladles of tho party wore
lovely afternoon toilettes.
Mrs. Johnston was gowned In palo
yellow moussellne, trimmed In lace and
shlrrlngs.
Mrs. Osrrett wore a gown of white
bntltste hand embroidered. Her hnt
was of pink tulle trimmed with clus
ters of pale green grapes.

Several Interesting waddings will oc
cur this autmnn. In which Macon fur
nishes either the bride or the groom,
and these are being looked forward to
with much pleasurable Interest by the

One of tho first of these will be the
wedding of Miss Kate Williams and
Mr. William James Fleming of New
York, which occurs early In October.
The marriage will occur ut the home

B. Cobh will be the honor guest, and
will give one of her talks to the girls,
prior to her leaving on her trip abroad.

alumnae of the college, and their

Surprise Card Party.
One of the Jolllesr affairs of the
week was the surprise card party nt
Miss Kate Crumps on Wednesday
morning, when about sixteen of her
girl friends were entertained nt euchre,
after surprising her with their pres
ence. The morning pussed very de
lightfully. and after the game of cards
a dainty luncheon was served.
There were two prizes given, a first
and consolation. Miss Bessie Dean of
Eufaula winning the first, a Christy
picture.
