An Interesting programme will be
presented at the local ball yard tomor
row afternoon when the field day bene
fit for the Macon baseball club will
take placo.
In addition to an Interesting array of
field day events in which the Individ
ual merits of the players will be shown
a game of ball will take place between
two teams captained by Manager Billy
Smith and Paul Sentell. This game
wil begin at the regular time.
No one In Macon questions the fact
thnt some little recognition Is due the
ball team for their successful efforts
In bringing the pennant to Macon and
at the some time shattering the pen
nant aspirations of some five other
clubs. The past soason has been one
of the best In the history of Southern
balldom and tho stand taken In it by
Mncon has been at the top mark from
the opening to the closing hour.
Perhaps the greatest event which 1s
to take place during the afternoon and
the one that will without doubt be
of the most interest to the local fnns
will be the raising of the pennant,, the
g for the possession of which many
dollars have been expended and many
hard battles waged. Tho pennant Is
emblazoned with Macon's name nnd is
made of silk. The staff from which It
rill flaunt In the Georgia breeze and
will be kissed by Georgia sunshine Is
made of the select Georgia pine, war
ranted n*.’»VnT tb band or break when
storms rage and thunders rattle,
speeches will bo made as tho banner
Is hoisted on high.
The game that Is to follow the hoist
Ing of the streamer will be one that
Is warranted to bo of Interest. Rivalry
has existed among several of the play
ers and‘In order to settle tho dispute
careful tab will bo kept of tho game.
Captain Sentell feols sure of downing
the lads of Billy Smith, nnd vice versn.
As but twelve members of the team
will be In town tomorrow Manager
Smith has selected‘six Macon players
to fill In the places of tho absent men.
Tickets for the game aro on sale by
each of tho players nnd at the bowling
alley and billiard room.
