In the Sunday, eohool and church, and,
from preparation* made, thla “Harvest
Horn©** and Thanksgiving aervlce will
lie more attractive and Intereating to
both old and young than any of the
rully day aervlcee heretofore held.
Promptly at 9:45 the ©xerclaea will
begin In the Sunday school room*, the
teachers, scholars ami visitors being
seated at 9:40 and all ready to partic
ipate In the program when the bell
taps for quiet.
Tho rooms are being decorated
tastily with autumn leaves, flowers,
1 ttheuves of wheat, oats, rye, barley and
frultn of the field, making the place a
veritable home of the 'harvest, end
presenting such n picture of bounty
that one must be Impressed again with
the evidences of things we have cause
to be thankful for.
Reports will be made showing the
past year's work In the school; the
scholars will with fiults and flowers
build a pyramid of beauty; the pri
mary department scholars will sing
some of their sweetest songs, and Just
before the conclusion of the program
the cradle roll will be called and an
swered by the little tota who until they
are old enough to attend the school are
membern of thla roll and come once
each year on rally day to answer their
name and receive a card. The Preaby<
terlans now have about fifty on this
roll.
When the service Is concluded the
school will march In o body up Into
and take seats In front of the church
auditorium, where a short sermon will
be preached by the pastor, Dr. Dougins,
Another feature of there annual
gatherings Is the baptirlng of children
whose parents are members of the
church, and this ordinance will be nd
ministered by the pastor In the church
on Sunday morning before the sermon.
To the services both In the school
and church all members of the church
and congregation and all visitors will
be heartily welcomed.

The Bibb county courthouse Monday
evening will be doubtless a scene of
great enthusiasm. It Is expected that
Bibb county Democrats will bg present
en masse to hear the Issues of the
day discussed. Following Is the call
,the meeting made by the leaders of
the Democracy In Bibb:
There ’will be a-meeting of Demo
crats held at the courthouse, in Ma
con, at A o'clock, p. m., Monday, the
7th Inst, for the purpose of taking
necessary steps to secure a full Demo
cratic vote In Bibb county at the en
suing presidential and congressional
election. Speeches will be made at
the meeting on the political issues of
the day by Senator Bacon, Hon. Hoke
Smith, Representative Bartlett, Hon.
N. E. Harris, and others. All Demo
crats, members of the Young lien's
Democratic League, and of the Parker
Club are earnestly requested to be

dents of the 8©nlor and Intermediate
classes at flreaham High School was
highly Interesting as well aa instruc
tive. The tslk was the first of a aeries
to be given by Dr. Moore.
The speaker treated the.subject with
tho view of pointing out to his hearers
tho evil results of thg drug upon all
tho vital organa of tho body. By the
use of photographic charts the evil
results caused by the use of alcohol In
any of Its forms were shown.
"The Moral Effects of Alcohol" will
be the theme on which Dr. Moore will
apeak next Friday afternoon.

curs on Tuesday next, November 8th.

of Georgia In the electoral college will
be cast for the Democratic nominees.

quire. or whether, In default of such
majority, the legislature shall be con
vened In extraordinary session to elect
the electors. But the Democrats of
Georgia and of Bibb county. In view
of the Issues presented In the cam
paign for president, and In view of
the fact that It should be. and Is, the
^duty of every Democrat In thin section
to oppose the election of tho Republi
can nominee, Theodore Roosevelt,
should emphasize that opposition by
a full >otc of the white people nnd the
Democrat,* of the state and county.

attitude and demand* of Roosevelt, tho
Republican party, in Its platform and
the utterances of UK campaign ora
tors. Is making assaults upon the right
of local lelf-governhlent In the South-
em states, and demanding that their
representation, both In congress and In
the electoral college, nhnll be reduced;
and this will he attempted to be en
forced by legislation. If the policy of
tho present administration can be car
ried out by n successful campaign. In
which shall be elected a Republican
president and a Republican congress.
With this Issue so prominently pre
sented. ns It Is and hna been In this
campaign, as the chairman of the
Democratic executive committee of
Bibb county. I feel duly authorised to
earnestly urge that every Democrat In
Bibb count)* shall on the election day.
Tuesday, next, go to the polls nnd cast
hla ballot for the Democratic nominees
for president nnd vice president. *and
for the Democratic nominee for con
gress. Btbh county has ever stood In
the forefront In the past with its Demo
cratic majorities, and time and time
again. In proportion to Its voting popu
lation. has given to the Democratic
candidates the largest majority of any
county In the state. There are regist
ered 4.200 white votes In Bibb county.
To them I make an earnest and sin
cere appeal that they will at least take
time enough to cast their ballots, and
roll up again for Bibb county, as it
baa been done In tha past, a Demo
cratic majority which shall go. both
to swell the general majority In the
■tate, and ahall be at least sn Indig
nant protest against Roosevelt. Roose

the same time teach others who would
divide the white vote of this section,
and thus aid In the perpetuation of
sectional strife, that Bibb county and
Bibb county Democrats cannot be
shaken In their faith and determlna

Engaged for a Number of Years in
Railroad Business—Interment at —
Godfrey Yesterday Afternoon.
Mr. Robert L. Jarrell, engaged for a
number of years in railroad business In
connection with the Georgia railroad,
died of typhoid fever after a short ill
ness at bis home &t Almon, Ga. His
remains were taken to Godfrey, Ga.,
yesterday afternoon, where the Inter
ment took place. Mr. Jarrell was about
35 years of age. He left a widow and
five small children and a large circle
of relatives and friends to mourn his
untimely death.
Mr. Jarrell was a half brother of Mr.
J. T. James and a nephew of Mr. R. F.
Burden of this city.

Bricklayer Went to Hospital.
Charles Braswell, a colored bricklayer
employed on the bulldlnc occupied by
R. C. Keen, (rocer. on Cotton avenue,
waa thrown from a scaffold thirty feet
to the pavement yesterday afternoon
and hie les was broken at the ankle.
