Cicero Goodwin, a farmer living near
Hold* station about nine miles from
the dly, came to town yesterday af

bout 150 pounds which he had cap
tured and killed In the swamp of tho
Ocmulgeo river near his home.
snimal had been an Inhabitant
of the swamp where Stone creek flown
Into the river. A cub was wounded
severAl days ago by Howard Collins.
These two are said to have roamed
about the swamp for a long time. The
farmer captured the mother bear In
singular manner. Some of his hogs
hud been killed In the swamp nnd after
making close investigations he de
termined to set a trnp. He has sup

than thst ordinarily captured In a
Georgia swamp of thlaeeectlon on ac
count of the number and size of hogs
killed.
The trap secured was a large one.
This was fastened and halted with a
cow's head. The first capture was a
cub bear. The trap was again set and
the mother bear was next to be caught.
Goodwin killed her and brought her
to Macon. The bear shot by Howard
was only wounded and escaped.
The farmer created a general sur
prise when he stated that the bear had
been killed In the swamp of the Oc-
mulgee river. No one could account
for the appearance of the benra this
far Into the Interior, unless they hnd
traveled from the south always keep
ing close to the river. They had been
giving trouble for some time In the
swnmp of Rtone creek and the Oomul-
gee and must have had a permanent
abode.
These bears are known to the old
fanners and hunters of this section
as "hog" bears, but father Routh they
are known ns "casino" bears, because

Chicago Police Having Trouble With
Furniture Wagon Drivers.
CHICAGO. Nov. 18.—The strike of
furniture wagon drivers which led to
street riots yesterday, spread today to
other factories In the furniture manu
facturers' association. Picket lines
were established by the strikers and
several factories were practically In a
state of siege, the guarding unionists
warning away drivers of lumber and
coal wagons loaded with fuel for
the beleaguered plants. The truck
drivers union, the largest local organ
ization of ten maters In the world, was
drawn Into the strike of the furniture
wagon drivers today. Fifteen of the
members were ordered to quit work
because their employes had refused to
sign the wage agreement of the furni
ture drivers. Seven more firms were
temporarily tied up by this action. A
trip made by wagons of the Johnson
Chair Company, whose drivers were
attacked yesterday, caused a clash be
tween the police, and strike sympathiz
ers. Htoncs were thrown and a futllo
attempt made to .blockade on outlying
street. The police were able, to dis
perse the rioters.
