Mr. J. W. Brook*, one of the mem

cepted a position a* chemist, at one of
Birmingham's Urge iron laboratories
When Mr. Brooks received the, letter
offering him the position a few day*
ago he was at Mercer taking a post
graduate course In chemistry. Since
hi* matrlculntlon at the Institution he
was a hard student of chemistry and
did fine work In that branch of hi*
curriculum. Mr. Brook* will leave for
Birmingham at once. He Is the sixth
graduate of chemistry nt Mercer to
accept a like position at Birmingham
within the last few years.

bowling team will meet Atlanta’* crack
club tomorrow night in the second
match of the new Southeastern Bowl
ing League. By defeating Columbus a
week ago the local club jumped Into
first place and expects to cinch their
grip on the top round tomorrow.
The local team will roll upon the
Macon alley* on Cotton avenue, and
the Atlanta team will roll In that city.
A ten pin match consist* of three
game* and at the conclusion of each
one of the three the result* will be at
once wired from Atlanta to Macon and
vice versa. Thla serve* to keerp the op-
posing players in touch with the pro
gre** of the match at all it* point* of
progress.
The game tomorrow night in Macon
will open at 8 o'clock. Two team*
meet and the five highest rollers of the
ten In the match will be the team that
pit* It* score against the Gate City
aggregation. This quintet of rollers
will probably consists of Prof. Macon,
Merritt, Napier, Evans and Baldwin or
Taylor.
Friday evening a boys’ match will be
held. All rollers under 16 years of age
