The funeml services of Mr. Francis
M. Erwin, Who died Saturday at his
home on CoUimbue road five miles
we*t bf the city, were conducted yes
terday momtng at Ebenezer church nnd
the body Was laid to reat in Ebenezer
cemetery. * V
The funeral was largely attended by
friends and’Actiunlnienccs of the de
ceased man. He was widely known as
a planter of Bibb and a verteran of
the ClviJ war. The services were con
ducted by Rev. Mr. Snider. who was
a resident of the community and a
close friend of the aged man.

peculiarly a helpful one. .His theme
was “need all supplied” on Phlllp-
plans 4.19. The question of need
and supply Is the one set forth in this
passage said the speaker, aryl the
apostles leaps from the sphere of phy
sical need and physical supply to spir
itual need and spiritual supply. Te
reference Is not so much to the physi
cal need of-man. but the great spirit
ual need of the human heart and the
true sourer of supply. Man's need of
grace to build,, of guidance to be direct
ed aright, of a good for which he may
strive. May all be supplied through
Chlrst who Is the source of medium of
every good gift.
The greatness of the supply
was also strikingly presented. “Ac

F. Gober of the Blue Ridge circuit was
in Atlanta last week. While talking
to a number of his friends with refer
ence to President Roosevelt’s proposed
visit to the home of his mother in Cobb
county some time in spring. Judge
Gober said: “What are we going to
do with him? Why we are going to
receive him and entertain him in any
way that we can to give him a favor
able Impression of the people of Cobb
county. Our people are always glad
to have strangers visit them, and when
the head of the nation favors us with
his presence we will treat him with
the respect that his position entitles
him to receive at our hands. There H
no devision among our people as to
how President Roosevelt should be re
celved. He will meet with generous
and cordial welcome from all.”

term of the superior court will be In ses
sion this morning after two weeks of
work which has ben devoted to Investi
gation of county records and the bonrds
of the county officials 6s well ns tho
general condition of the county Institu
tions.
It Is said that as a result of these In
vestigation* the general presentments of
this body will be highly InleroKtlag. Spe
cial attention has been given to the rural
schools of Blhh by the committee assign
ed to the Investigation of their conditions
as compared with the condition of tho
City schools.
The sessions of the present week will he
devoted to criminal charges. This Is said
to have acdumulnted during the time
which has been devoted to committee
work. The grand Jury disposed of all
business other than thai or the commit
tee* before the recess. It Is not expected
that the criminal business of this week
will he very heavy, although few nten
know what the members expect to do.

of the securing of twenty thousand dol
lars of stock In the now railroad from
Athens to Jefferson ns an Inducement

the remainder will be raised within the
next few days. The construction

Labor Leader Injured.
ATLANTA. Dec. 11—Patrick H.
Moore, a prominent labor leader of
Atlanta, fell down a night ot atepa
leading to the baaement of the Inter-
Ocean anloon yesterday afternoon and
larded on hla head and back. H* was
picked up In a daxed condition and
ami to the Orady hoeptuL At And
,-na believed that ha had fractured
hla skull, but an examination proved
that he had not been seriously Injured.
A few gashes were rut In hla head.
The*, wounds were dressed and today
he was allowad to ro tn hla home.
Four Flrea In Atlanta.
ATLANTA. Dee. 11.—Atlanta’s Are
department had plenty of hard work
last night. Four alarms were turned
In. The moat serious Are was tht
burning of an apartment house, corner
of Woodward avenue and Martin
street. In which were living the faml-
llea of A. W. Duffy. C. O. Johnaon and
B. H. Spencer. The Are originated In
a traah box. There were no casualties
althoupgh the Are occurred at 5:19 this
morning. Nearly all of the furniture
was saved.
