Letter From an Illinois Newspaper
Man That Is Well Worth Reading.
As a usual thing editors save the
good things for the columns of their
own newspapers, but the following
letter from 8. H. Duncan, editor of the
Beaton. III., Independent, shows that
there Is at least one editor who wants
to help others. He writes ns follows:
"To the Editor of The Telegraph:
I wish you would print the follow
ing and thus help me to do a kindness
to your readers. My wife has been a
great sufferer with stomach troubles
for the past four years, and the last
two years pmctlcally an Invalid. Noth
ing seemed to help her until I pro
cured a box of Mi-o-na. nature's cure
for dyspepsia. This gave her so much
relief that she continued using tho
remedy until now *he enjoys her meals,
Is relieved from all pain In her stomach
and has Increased In flesh.
I hope you will publish this letter,
for 1 think there Is no remedy for
stomach trouble equal to Mt-o-na. and
the more wide spread Its use becomes,
the more good will b« done to hu
manity.

H. B. Hillard, a collector for the S.
M. HiJlard Dray Line, narrowly es
caped death on Mulberry street in
front of the county court house yes
terday afternoon at 3 o’clock, when a
horse he was riding, became frighten
ed at an automobile, dashed and fell,
entangling the rider in the stirrupo
and dragging him for some time be
fore he was extricated.
When the hose shied at the machine
he fell and threw his rider. The ani
mal was quickly on his feet again and
running at terrific speed with his
rider’s foot securely fastened In one of
the stirrups. He dashed around and
around the park In front of the court
house dragging his rider after him.
At one moment as MT. Hillard came
near a tree he grasped it. but the
stirrup strap did not break and he
was snatched loose from the tree.
But a moment after the horse fell
he attracted the attention of Officer
Pierce of the police force and Sheriff
Wescott. Both men ran to assist the
rider. As the frightened horse turned
a corner the officer slezed his bridle
and swung on until he stopped him.
When he made the turn he broke
loose from his* rider by snapping the
stirrup strap.
This fortunate assistance from the
officer and the breaking of the strap
saved the rider from being dashed
along the street at the heels of the
horse and probably killed. When he
was relieved of the danger he had
been slightly Injured about one of his
arms and his side. The money in his
pockets, amounting to about $100,
was scattered about the park where
the horse had run and this was gath
ered up ns nearly as possible. The
rider did not know just how much he
had and he was unable to state
whether he had found all that had
been scattered.
YESTERDAY'S WEATHER.
SOFT, GLOSSY HAIR.
It Can Only Be Had Where There is
No Dandruff.
Any man or woman who wants soft,
glossy hair must be free of dandruff,
which causes falling hair. Since It
has become known that dandruff is a
germ disease, the old hair preparations
that were mostly scalp irritants, havo
been abandoned, and the public bar
bers and doctors included, have taken
to using Newbro’s Herplckle, the only
hair preparation that kills the dandruff
germ. E. Dodd, Dickinson, N. D., says:
‘‘Herpicidc not only cleanses the scalp
from dandruff and prevents the hair
falling out, but promotes a new growth.
Hcrplclde keeps my hair very glossy."
