Massey's mill In East Macon, created
a deal of trouble Monday gfternoon by
shooting pistols at negroes living in

YOUNG NEGRO KILLED
WHILE OUT HUNTING
Counsel for Winnie Moore, wife of
Peyton Moore, the negro who was run
over and killed*on the Macon, Dublin
and Savannah tracks near their yards
on the night ofiDecembor 20th, entered
suit against that company in the city
court yesterday for the recovery of
13,000 damages • charged on account of
alleged negligence In the conductor of
one of the outgoing passenger trains
In putting her husband off the train
where he would be exposed to the dan
ger of being killed* by passing locomo
tives and cars.
The petitioners claims that the man
was put ofT the train on- the tracks
while he was unable to care for him
self and remained there until he was
run over and killed by the switch en
gine which passed shortly after the
train from whlcti Moore wasttaken .
The petitioner also claims that the
employes of the-railroad In charge of
the switch engine were negligent in
falling to see the negro in time to avoid
running over Mm.
Peyton Mocre came to his death last
Monday night by being run over on the
tracks of the Macon, Dublin and Sa
vannah railroad, 1 a short distance from
the yards In this city. A coroner’s in
quest was held and the verdict of the
Jury was that the accident was un
avoidable.
VOLUNTARY BANKRUPTCY.
Farmer of Dublin and Lumber Man
of Toom*boro Filed Schedules.
D. P. Nobles, a farmer of Dublin, Go.,
filed a petition In involuntary bank
ruptcy In the coarts of Macon yester
day. The schedules accompanying the
petition contained a statement of lia
bilities amounting tu $2,012.40. The as
sets were placed at $1,600.
Q. L. Pierce of Toomsboro filed a
petition in voluntary bankruptcy also.
His schedule showed liabilities aggre
gating $2,780.60. The assets were
placed at $2.90. He conducted a lum
ber business.

Funeral of Mrs. Sarah A. Bishop.
Funeral services over the remains of
Mrs. Sarah A. Bishop. ; who died Sun
day morning after a short Illness, oc
curred yesterday morning at 10 o’clock
at the residence of her grand-daugh
ter, Mrs. Howell Leak, on Spring
street. Rev. W. N. Ainsworth con
ducted the services. After services at
the home the remains were taken to
Bonaire, Ga., for interment.
A large number of friends and rela
tives were present at the services, at
testing the high esteem In which this
good lady was held. Sincere friends
over the city and throughout this sec
tion Join the family In their sad hour
of grief and share with them their Ir
reparable loss.
The acting pallbearers were Messrs.
J. J. Cobb, C. T. King, D. A. Barnes,
W. H. M. Weaver, R. L. McKcnncy
and George Lingo.

One of the Old Landmarks of Macon's
Business Life.
Mr. Marks Lamlsberg. one of Ma
con's oldest and moat highly esteemed
cltlsens died at the residence of his
dnughter. Mrs. Henrietta Nushnmn,
yesterday morning at 10:30 o’clock.
Mr. Landeberg had been In feeble
health for the pnat year. Ills Illness
and subsequent death were the result
of exhausted vital forces and extreme
old age. Mr. latndaberg had passed
four-score, having arrived at the ripe
old uge of SI years, lie counted hla
friends In every quarter both among
Jews and Gentiles? lie was very affa
ble and congenial In any company. Mr.
Lniidsherg was prominently blentllled
with the business Interests of the city
and vicinity and was held In high es-
I teem for lila Integrity and strong per-

The 13-year old ton of Joe Harris, a
negro, was ehotand almost Instantly
killed aa n result of an accidental dis
charge of a shot gun Monday In the
ufternoon. The Harris boy was In
company with Henry Mack when the
shooting occurred. The .two had been
hunting In the vyoods and fields about
six miles north of the city and were
on their way home. The boy who was
killed wna in tfofe lead when Macfc’a
weapon wan discharged. Just what
caused the pree*tire on the trigger la
not known, but It was reported that the
Mack boy trlppejT and in falling the
gun went off, sending a load of bird
shot Into the btyly of the one ahead.
The report of.the shooting was received
by the parents of the parties und the
body of the dead lad was taken In
charge. The two were of the same
age.

Sad Dsath of a Little Boy.
David Milne, the two-year old son of
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Richter, died at an
early hour yeaterday morning after an
lllneas with pneumonia of about one
week's duration.
Little David was the light of the
household nnd the many fond hopes
cherished by his loving parents were
blighted in (tls untimely death. He was
an unusually bright child nnd had not
only entwined himself in the hearts of
his parents, hut little David was loved
and admired by all who knew him dur*
lug his short stay on earth. The be
reaved parents have the sympathy of
their numerous friends throughout the
city.
Funeral services will occur at the
residence of his parents this morning
at 10:30 o’clock. Services will be con
ducted by Rev. W. H. Frasier, pastbr
of the Tattnall, Square Presbyterian
church. Interment at Rose Hill cem
etery.
