SCHOOL ENROLMENT IS
JUST HOW A BIT SHY
BUT SUPERINTENDENT CHAP-
MAN THINKS IT WILL SOON
CATCH UP.
Up to date a slight decrease
shown In the enrollment of the schools
through the Bibb county school sys-
com par Ison with last years figures of
158 pupils.
This Is accounted for apparently by
the fact that cue negroes of the coun
ty have not kept up with the newapa
uient# that the board of education
have made compulsory.
This deficit In enrollment Is also ex
plained by the panic, and hard times
cry which has recently been prevalent
throughout true country, and a great
many children have been taken from
school and put to work on thla ac
count. ,
The growth in population of the
county, proven by the new school#
established at Kewburg and Naolqr
Height#, and the fact that more peo
ple than uiual have moved within
the city lately than ever before, the
mpld building of house#, and the
rapid settling of the various suburban
districts, will fill up these gap# in the
schools, and Superintendent Chapman
Is confident that by the flrat of the
coming month the schools will be oc
cupied to their full capacity, and the
enrollment will compare favorably
with any previous year. N
