Phones 325—290. WASHINGTON. Oct. 7.—tlnlM. ths present plans of the navy department are changed the Atlantic battleship fleet will come home direct to Hamp ton Roads. The fleet, according t< the present plans, will remain two or three days In Hampton Roads for a grand review by President Roosevelt, then go to New York to remain flve or six days in order to give the men shofe leave. The fleet will then go to Guantanamo for target practice. Today’s statement was the first offl clal admission that Hampton Roads would be the destination of the fleet on Its arrival In the United States. The greatest consideration which In fluenced in the selection of Humpton Roads Is the almost unlimited amount ot anchorage facilities to be had there, though the question of climatic condi tions being more favorable at the Virginia port has had some weight, as also the less Important aentlmental one of having the ships return to the E lace whence they started on their >ng Journey. President Roosevelt Is expected to review the vessels nt Hampton Roads, which will comprise the greatest ag gregation of American fighting ships ever gathered at one point. Late reports from Admiral Sperry Indicate that notwithstanding their long trip, the ships of his command are in good shape, which will make it unnecessary for them to go Into dry dock immediately on their arrival In the United States. Many details In cidental to the return of the battleship fleet and their welcome home yet re main to be arranged, but all will be ready by February 21 when the grips’ prows are pointed towards the Vir ginia capes. Conditions at New York are more favorable for giving shore leave to the men of tho battleship fleet after their long stay aboard ship, and It 1 L this reason, ns well as to give the citi zens of the metropolis an opportunity to see the shl^s after their tour, that fhey arc to go there. When the superior court convenes for the November term. It is expected that one of tho heaviest dockets on record will await trial. Already there ore forty-six cases on the asplgnment book, and fully as many more will probably be filed between now and re turn day, which Is Tuesday, the 13th. Of the cases now on the docket the most important !• the suit of the Ex change bank receivers against the di rectors, which Involves over ft half million dollars. Over a score* of law yers will be engaged in the trial of this case, the majority representing the fourteen defendants. There have been thirteen petitions for divorce filed within tho last six weeks, the latest oneB being as fol lows: Lula McCook vs. A. J. Mc Cook, W. M. Smith vs. Addle Smith, Mrs. Jimmie Nelson vs. Q. L. Nelson, Mrs. Willie Sanderlln vs. J. F. Ban- dcrlln, J. P. VanVulkenberg vs. Pearl VanValkenberg.
