Never has more elegance and beauty been gathered into a showing of Dinner

- The influence of the Directoire period in the designs of the season is clearly
shown in the long, graceful, clinging lines of the costumes; the satin trimmings,
the braid and button ornaments. But the styles are not confined to narrow lim

OF BURGLARY OF HOUSE
TWO 8TATEMENT3 AT TOTAL VA-
RIANCE WITH EACH OTHER.
GEORGIA SOCIAL NEWS
(Continued from Page Two.)
, Mrs. Homer Brown left Tuesday for
John Jones, a negro, was committed
to the superior court by the recorder
yesterday to answer to the charge of
burglary.
The evidence was of the most con
flicting character, the statements of
the accused and hla accuser being as
wide apart as the polos. Here la what
Noah Marshall said: '
That John was seen by the neigh
bors to enter his bouse by breaking
Into a window, during his temporary
absence, and to take from the house
several pairs of pants, shirts and a
hat. When Noah returned from At
lanta he found that the house had
been entered by means of a window
and the articles mentioned gone. Later
he met John wearing his hat, gnd on
boning him about it, John said he
event Into the house with a key and
took nothing but the hat, which he
was willing to give up. Noah told
him that If he would give up the hat
and pay him five dollars for the other
things he had taken, he would not
prosecute him. John said he would
not pay the five dollars because he
Was not guilty of taking anything
but the hat, and then Noah called an
officer.
Here Is what John satd:
Noah had been found gambling, but
managed to escape. He asked John
tn go to his house arid look under the
dooratep and find the key, and then
to take charge of the house while
he was gone, and his going was for
the purpose of hiding out from the
officers until the thing blew over and
waa forgotten. John saye he wore the
bat because his was a straw, and the
straws bad been called. In. And now.
having carefully guarded the> .house
while Noah was hiding from Ahe of
ficers, here comes Noah and haa him
arrested. It was wrong, he said.
Then John was committed.
