On Saturday night the deputies from
the sheriffs office arrested a young
man on the char!* of being drunk on
the public highway. The arrest was
made on the complaint of Mr. A. B.
Moore and others, who said they were
very much disturbed by the conduct
of the young man.
Yesterday morning Mr. T.
Brown, father of the young man who
wag arrested on Saturday night, swore
out a warrant against Mr. A. B.
Moors, charging him with violation of
prohibition law, In that he was con
ducting g blind tiger at hla place of
business on Fourth street. Just beyond
the city limits.
Immediately upon the warrant being
served. Mr. Moore gave bond for his
appearance and waa^ released. The
deputy sheriffs made a thorough
search of the store, but failed to find
oven the trace of whisky.
For some tlmo reports have been
received by Hherilf Rc/bertaon that
whlaky was being sold In the vicinity
of Mooro’a store, but such Is the good
reputation borne by Mr. Moore that
no attempt was made to watch hls
store for the vlolstlona. It Is said
that those who have been operating
the blind tiger selected the locality pf
the store because, of It being a con
venient point. Mr. Moore |s regarded
by the people of South Macon as be
ing a good and law-abiding man, and
hls friends take no stock In the Idea
that ho has been guilty. They seem
to think that the father of the boy
has been minted by circumstances.
The search for the whisky was
made on a search warrant.
AS TO MATRION AT DEPOT
Resents the Reflection Caat Upon Him
By 8om* Minister.
Officer Rodgers, the special officer
at the union depot, in speaking of the
efforts of the ladles to plate a matron
In the waiting room, said yesterday
that he would be only too glad If some
good lady could get such a position,
but he wlshen to resent what seemed
to be a reflection on him made In the
course of remarks on the subject in
one of the pulplt M Sunday night.
It was stated that young girls were
entirely unprotected at the union,de
pot. and this Is why a matron Is need*
ed there.
As a matter of fact, every protec
tlon Is thrown around ladles who are
at the depot waiting fdr the arrival
departure of tralna. Officer Rodg
ers looks after them aa If guarding
hls own family, and at night the night
officer la thera for the aame pur
pose
A young girl la aa safe lh the union
depot as at home, and there have been
numerous Instances to show,how well
this atatemsnt has been borne out by
the facta. The officer dors not caro
to particularise, but he Is prepared
to prove how well he has protected
young girls who have had occasion to
go to the depot.
Officer Rodgers does not in any way
object to a lady being stationed at the
depot for the purposes mentioned, but
he dislikes the manner In which the
matter has been stated. Hs has dono
all that a good officer and good man
could do toward lone young women
who atop at the depot.

particular line of the profession, while

The wire* used .by th* Alpines are
manufactured In New England. They

arising from defects an Inspection (a

Practice. Incessant practice. Is their

at the close,of the matinee they are
constantly at work. New tricks are
constantly being rehearsed, and one
thing suggests another eo that their

excite much comment. The beauty of
