that a bank doesn’t caTe to bother with small accounts.
This is not true of the “Fourth.” This bank wel
comes new accounts, no matter how small, and extends
the same courtesy and servico to small depositors as to

DESPITE ELECTION
NEW YORK. Nov. t.—The tone of tho
stock market was reflective of the de
termination to meet the situation after
tho election, at the greatest possible
vantage point*. Price* were quietly and
persistently lifted during the session,
some of the leading stocks selling at the
high level for the year, and the average
level of the active list coming to the
election period not far below that
I The Union Pacific September earnings
was made the nominal reason for the
Recovery in that stock to the highest
I brlce of the year. Further reports com
ing to hand of railroad earnings for Sep
tember showed gains In groes earnings
by the western grain carriers. The
Pennsylvania and New York Central
statement* for September given out to.
day showed heavy declines In gross earn
ings and the cut In operating cost suf-
Iflclent only partly to offset this loss. The
same thing waa apparent with the minor
trunk lines. Erie. Norfolk and Western
and Chesapeake and Ohio being amongst
I those reporting.
Money on call held at the firmer rates I
established last week with the November
settlements. The program of the gov
ernment finances was cleared up by the
Intimation of a coming Issue of $50,000^
000 of Panama canal bonds, the proceeds
of which will be used to reimburse the
treasury for expenditures already made
_ s irregul
value. $4,714,000.
United States bonds wero unchanged
call. Total sales of stocks today were
