Massee=Felton Lumber Telephone 1840 Macon, Ga. MARKET EASES OFF AFTER NIGH RECORD NEtV YORK, Nov. 4.—The stock xh*r- ket today demonstrated In a striking manner its capacity for reaching a con* elusion behind a prevailing assumption. The assumption had become almost uni* versal In the financial district that the ripening of the occasion to which the speculation has been looking forward would be accompanied by theliarveetlng or the fruits. The extent of the ad vances established for Americans In London before trading began In New York today inspired many operators In stocks to act. After a momentary pause at the end of tho first hour, when the buying orders seemed to have been ex- liaustrrt and prlees were quite generally a point below the opening high level, tlicro developed an Impressive new de mand. The buying for the reat of the day was persistent and determined snd tanged over a wide field of cholca in the list of stocks. Hanking Interests and Urge capitalists seemed to come back Into the market with great confidence. The sentiment of the country aa expressed in the elections was construed as favorable to capltut and a* opposed to radical readjustments of ertulihshcd methods or relations between capital and labor and capital and em ployment. The outburst of speculative enthusiasm which resulted proved a sur mise to the most careful ohaorver. Tho -losing tone of the stock market was ■e»y animated and buoyant and last ••Iocs were close to the highest of tiro uiy. Tnat level was the hlghes. of United tUates Steel preferred and South- ru I'hcIIIc. Honda were firm. Total salts. par slue. 9S.0tO.000.
