Maturity, and th* i0.000 from Mouth
and East Macon, the population in
.1110 would ba 47.000.
Taking the hoard of health figures,
the population would be 50.000 when
the next government census Is taken.
The pulse of Bout h and East Macon
as to coming In has not been Mt recent
ly, though It Is known that there Is
much opposition to the movement.
Whether or not tills can be ovrrcom*
remains to be seen.
The question has been asked how
the mayor and council can supply the
m«r territory with o/taUarV saw err.
This can only be done by Issuing
bonds, aa was done at the time th«*
other portion of Vlnevllle was taken
In. For this purpose there was an
Issue of what Is known ms Town Hall
and Hewer Monde. Twenty thousand
went for the auditorium and forty
thousand for the sewers.
Whether or not there will be «n
election to Issue sewer bonds before
1910 lies with the council. It -ha*
long been the Idea that when the bonds
known as the old sixes are retired,
which will be In January. 1910, to Is
sue a numb A r of bonds In which may
be Included the sewer bonds for the
new territory, unless council decides to
Issue sewer bonds for that purpos* at
once.
Just what the council will do In the
matter remains to he seen, as there
Is now no steps contemplated along
these llnea so far as known.

obliged to absorb. The grea^ bulk of
these stocks they have been compelled
to carry longer thah expected, for
while they showed a handsome profit

last two months, however, large quan

party of young men Saturday .night,
and without any serious results so far
as can be learned.
It came about that a number of
young ladles, with as many young men,
were talking of tho courage of tha
young man of the day, and one clever
girl suggested the test. The young
men were to write their names on
slips of paper, and were to go to Fort
Hill cemetery In East Macon and go
through. leaving the slips on certain
graves that they might be found there
in the morning. These slips were to
be gathered up by a married man
who had no Interest In the matter ex
cept to see that there was no fraud
practiced, and a man In whom the la
dles could fully rely. The young roan
or men whose name* were not to De
found were to pay for the candy for
the crowd, and also to take any dose
of medicine that might be prescribed
by any physician they might select.
Every woman loves a brave man.
and she knows^hatltla not every man
who Is possessed of courage; conse
quently these ladles calculated that
out of the ten young men who were
to undergo tha test, at least some of
them would fall, and they would there
fore have a lot of candy to eat and
any amount of fun Jn the preacrlptlon.
for they were already thinking up the
moHt horrible dose possible.
Yesterday mornmg bright and early,
long before It v.*os good light, the man
selected to overlook the Job went
through- Fort HIU cemetery and found
th* slips—all ten of them.
There will b* no candy for the young

will get out of the test is that each
of the ten young men ore brave enough
